Game Modes in Extinction Extinction Guide & Walkthrough

In the Extinction game there are five game modes to choose from. They differ between themselves in several aspects, but the maps, the enemies and the overall construction of each mission remains the same. There are five basic game modes: single-player campaign, challenge, skirmish, daily challenge and Extinction. Specific game modes were described in the following sections:

Single-player campaign

You can check your current quest in the pause menu.

The single-player campaign consists of 7 chapters, each of them divided into several parts, resulting in 34 missions in total. In each of the missions, you will have a one major task to complete - doing so will allow you to advance to the next stage. Aside from the main tasks, you will also be able to complete side objectives during each mission. Depending on the mission, it will either be one or three side objectives. Failure to complete any of the side objectives won't affect the success of the main mission. In the case of some of the chapters, where one additional objective can be found, the objective itself is not fixed. Once you start the mission, a side objective will be randomly selected. If you want to change the objective, you need to get back to the main menu and start the mission again.

Challenges

In the Challenge mode your task is to save all of the civilians - and do so as quickly as possible.

Challenges in Extinction are about saving a specific amount of civilians. This is the main objective. Additional medals can be earned by completing a challenge within a time limit. What's important is the fact that once you die, the mission will be over and you will need to restart it. You can access challenges from the campaign menu.

Skirmish

In this mode, your task is to save civilians. You don't have a time limit here, but you need to keep an eye out for the amount of killed civilians - if too many of them will die, the mission will be failed. Additionally, you can fight Raveni and smaller enemies before rescuing civilians to gain more points.

Daily Challenges

A mode similar to skirmish. The main difference is the fact that you can compete with other players to earn the most points. The rankings of the best players from a specific day are presented daily.

Extinction

A mode in which you will have one life and you will need to defeat as many enemies and get as many points as possible. Points can be earned by saving civilians and fighting smaller enemies and Raveni. There's no time limit implemented here. The mission ends once the hero is killed or the city is completely destroyed.
