The aforementioned Damacy Reroll Katamari captivated a large group of players with its uniqueness and satisfying, controlled destruction. Many developers were also delighted, although a significant part of them are indie devs whose productions fail to break through to larger audiences. However, Donut County, released in 2018, managed this difficult feat. This low-poly-style game (using rather simple, "angular" 3D shapes) borrowed the destruction mechanics from Damacy Reroll Katamari, but turned a huge ball into a hole.

Donut County puts a lot of emphasis on the story, which is about small-town drama and the sudden appearance of a huge hole in the city. Of course, this hole is the "hero" we control. Initially a small hole in the ground, we can inch towards small flowers or mushrooms to absorb them, thanks to which our "protagonist" (i.e. the hole) grows more and more, to finally be able to pull cars or entire buildings.

The levels are much less extensive than in Katamari Damacy Reroll, and the game itself is much shorter, perfect for about two evenings of fun. Its charm, however, lies above all in the fun of absorbing everything as a big hole and in the well-written dialogues that make the cutscenes exceptionally enjoyable. The controls, which do not require us to worry about anything except the movement of the hole, make the game just as relaxing for everyone – both seasoned gamers and people who had little contact with virtual entertainment.
