3D platformers are usually rather colorful and reminiscent of children's games, even if they can surprise you with the level of difficulty that can be overcome by the adult player (a perfect example of which is Crash Bandicoot). A Hat in Time turns out to be a typical platformer in this respect. The world is colorful, fairy-tale-like, sometimes cartoonish, and the game even seems infantile. The difficulty level is quite low (you can raise it by purchasing a DLC), but it is also not trivial, and in this respect, the production turns out to be quite universal. And since it has virtually all the features of a typical 3D platformer, what distinguishes it?
Although this word may not mean much is somewhat hackneyed, it's all about the... atmosphere. The one in A Hat in Time is truly unique, full of absurd, yet very warm humor that makes you smile for most of the game. This humor, as well as world building, are very organic, the jokes do not seem embarrassing nor weak – the game is genuinely fun and full of warmth. If you need a meaningful story for younger players, try A Hat in Time. If you need a break from tedious adult life... play A Hat in Time.
The game is said to be an extremely cute platformer, although some heroes can be a little unsettled by the appearance itself. However, even with that in mind, it's worth getting caught up in this ridiculous story about repairing a broken spaceship with planetary travels and a magic hat. The game guarantees arcade challenges and a relaxing experience.
