DRUIDSTONE IN A NUTSHELL:

  1. Developer: Ctrl Alt Ninja
  2. Platform: PC
  3. Release date: May 15, 2019
  4. 1,193 reviews on Steam

One of this year's most underappreciated games, not only among the RPGs, is undoubtedly Druidstone: The Secret of the Menhir Forest. And that may come as a surprise, since this project was developed by the veterans of the hit series Legends of Grimrock.

The modest sales may be explained by the fact that this game is ultimately very different from the previous output of this team. Instead of a dungeon crawler, we get a classically realized tactical RPG with a turn-based combat system. This genre is dominated by Japanese games, but Druidstone is not inferior to the best projects from the Land of the Rising Sun.

During the game, we spend most of the time fighting, and this aspect is very extensive, offering a wide range of features and equipment. The production is characterized by a great tactical freedom and a high level of complexity, which, in addition, is further enhanced with roguelike elements – after death, we start the adventure from scratch, and the world and its characters change significantly with each comeback.

Druidstone: The Secret of the Menhir Forest is pretty, polished, and very satisfying. The only real downside is the fact that the game only takes about 30 hours to be completed, but it's not a big problem as it's relatively unexpensive.

Druidstone is a game for you if:

  1. you're looking for a powerful tactical RPG;
  2. you enjoy roguelike elements;
  3. you don't mind a high level of complexity.
