Sam Barlow is already famous for not making computer games in the traditional sense of the term, but simply making films, then cutting them into lots of individual shots, mixing them and giving the "player" a chance to piece them together. Either in their own way, or by guessing the author's intentions. There's a computer, there's clicking, there's getting to know the plot, the characters, but we're not really playing, we're just watching an interactive movie all the time. The differences and similarities, the issues of what is and what is not this type of work, have already been raised by Karol in his text inspired by the game Immortality.
And putting aside whether it's still a game or just a movie, the fact is that Immortality received very high scores in the gaming media. Barlow once again shone with his unique way of narration – the way he can interest the player (or viewer) with the story being told. The story of an actress missing in mysterious circumstances draws you in, constantly provokes you to analyze the scenes you've seen, draw conclusions, interpret what you just saw in your own way. This isn't an easy game to digest and it's definitely not for everyone. And maybe it is not exactly a game, but it certainly is the most unique and unusual experience that could be found in the Game Pass offer this year.
