Apart from Gran Turismo Sport, which is focused on online racing, fans of this series had to wait almost 9 years for the next full-fledged installment – the last one was released at the end of the PlayStation 3 era. Gran Turismo 7 proudly captures the spirit of the series, once again allowing you to drive on famous routes and get countless cars for our virtual garage. All this without haste, without other players spoiling the start and not respecting the race track etiquette.
While we have not really joined the general admiration of Gran Turismo 7 spelled out in most of the reviews, it's hard not to notice that the release has caused quite an excitement in the industry. It offers really accessible gameplay with nice graphics and potentially hundreds of hours of fun needed to build a full collection of cars. It's also worth praising the original atmosphere and the iconic approach to the automotive industry, which can be seen in many well-made cutscenes. It's also difficult to find any competition on the PlayStation platform, providing similar gameplay modes and the number of cars and tracks – in this matter, GT7 is truly unrivaled on PS5 and PS4.
I’m going to watch closely what happens with GT7 after the release, and I’ll be happy to hop back in once Polyphony Digital figures out the fans’ complaints and addresses them properly. Gran Turismo 7 has potential to become a truly great game one day, but it’ll require hard work from the devs.
