Tony Hawk Ride Skateboard – Wii, Xbox 360, PlayStation 3. 15 weirdest game controllers ever created
Table of Contents
I'm basically at a loss when it comes to writing about this gadget. Most of the players know, least have heard about the Tony Hawk's Pro Skater series, endorsed by the household name of pro skating. It's straightforward in principle; after all, it's a game about skating. It's like with soccer – some people play it outdoors while others prefer a video game. Something that was supposed to bridge the gap between the world of kinetic energy and electronic entertainment seemed to be a skateboard-shaped controller, which unfortunately, and perhaps unsurprisingly, turned out to be useless.
Released in 2009, the gadget was supposed to work with the game Tony Hawk: Ride, released on Xbox 360, PlayStation 3 and Wii consoles. The idea itself (as with most things on this list) was great; such an electronic skateboard, if operational, would be a tremendous boos to immersion, akin to steering wheel and pedals for racing games. The skateboard not only turned out to be inconvenient in terms of control, but also felt more like a surfing board. In conclusion – it was a failure.
