Resident Evil Chainsaw – Game Cube, PlayStation 2. 15 weirdest game controllers ever created
Table of Contents
Apart from the undead, what's your first association with zombie games? Maybe... A chainsaw! That's exactly the idea NubyTech had in 2005, when they launched 50,000 saw-shaped controllers. They were available in two color variants depending on which consoles they were for. On Game Cube, the chainsaw was yellow, and on PlayStation 2, it was red. These were no random colors as they corresponded with the opponents present in the Resident Evil franchise, namely the Chainsaw Man and the Chainsaw Sisters. In addition, the saw also came in a unique box, stylized after the windows visible in many locations of Resident Evil.
More surprisingly, the controller actually used a fancy N-Motion technology to read and record movement of the player. This allowed for high fidelity of rendition of our actions, but the saw-shaped controller was kind of ambivalent when it came to playing comfort.
