Tenets of Akarat are secret objects that you can discover in the Vessel of Hatred DLC of Diablo 4. In our guide, you will learn how to uncover Defiled Shrines. Each such interaction will unlock access to 1 of 30 Tenets of Akarat hidden in various parts of Nahantu.

Covered shrines in the game world

1. While traveling around Nahantu in Vessel of Hatred , you may come across defiled shrines - an example is shown in the screenshot. They are not initially marked on the mini-map and the option to interact will only appear when you hover the cursor over one of them.

How to uncover a Defiled Shrine?

1. Shrines are covered by default. Uncovering it is always a little mystery.
2. The most common type of puzzle involves interacting with the surrounding stone guardians. Depending on the puzzle, you might have to quickly activate all the stones before the time runs out or determine the correct combination of stones (which stones should be activated and which ones should remain inactive).

1. A rarer variation of the puzzle involves destroying the tentacles surrounding the shrine. In that case, you can deal with it by using normal or special attacks.
2. Several waves of monsters may appear too. Once they are defeated, the shrine will be revealed.

Interaction with a Tenet of Akarat

1. Regardless of the minigame variant, interact with the revealed Tenet of Akarat. They function similarly to Altars of Lilith from the base game: you will receive XP and Nahantu renown points (the latter will bring you closer to unlocking the region's rewards). Additionally, uncovering all shrines will earn you the Nahantu Lion.
