In Diablo 4, you can explore the world of Sanctuary during the day or at night. From the guide you will find out whether there is a full 24-hour cycle, and whether there is an option to manually change the time of day, e.g. by resting. This may be of interest to people who, for example, want to explore the land at night.
Day and night cycle
The Sanctuary in Diablo 4 can be explored during the day or at night. Our observations show that the game sets the time to night more often. However, this does not cause a significant problem in visibility - you can still see more distant enemies. What's more, traveling at night can make it easier to find e.g. loot or Altars of Lilith, because they stand out from other elements of the environment.
The game doesn't have a full day and night cycle, e.g. a smooth transition from daylight hours to sunset and then night hours. If you stay on the surface, the game won't change the time of day.
Changing the time of day
There is no option to rest or wait in a given place and force a time of day to change.
The game may choose a different time of day automatically. This can (although not necessarily) happen:
- when emerging from the underground to the surface;
- when using waypoints or a city portal- then the map has to reload.
The time of day is only cosmetic. You will not find quests or events that are available, for example, only at night.
