Counter-Terrorists | Weapon List in CS GO CS GO Guide and Tips
Last update: 30 January 2018
The list below contains descriptions of Counter-Terrorist weapons. Every description contains additional tips that may come in handy during the game.
Pistols
Screen | Description |
USP-S A pistol equipped with a silencer. USP-S can cause following damage on the short/medium range: 140 when struck a non-Kevlar opponent and 70 for a Kevlar wearing opponent. Causes more damage than a Glock-18, but its magazine holds 12 rounds. Aim for the head, as corpse hits do not cause much damage.
P2000 The second starting pistol of Counter-Terrorists. Does not differ much from USP-S aside from an extra round (13).
P250 A great gun bought for a meager 300$. You can use it to kill an opponent with a headshot from a close/medium range regardless of whether he is wearing a helmet or not. As a result of its high damage, but less accuracy than in case of Glock or USP-S best utilized on the medium and close range. P250 has small spray, so it handles best in short bursts of 4 to 5 bullets. P250 is a great alternative to starting weapons and works wonders during eco rounds.
Five-Seven A great pistol that causes much damage and holds 20 rounds of ammo. A single well-aimed headshot can dispose of an armored enemy. Five-Seven has a very simple spray pattern - two initial shots hit the target, while the remaining ones go a bit up, so aim your weapon down in a right moment to maintain accuracy. Five-Seven is always a good choice when you can invest money in a secondary weapon.
CZ75-Auto A unique automatic pistol. Causes more damage than Glock or USP-S as it can kill an opponent at close range regardless of whether he is wearing armor or not. Works great on close range. Unfortunately, CZ75 has low ammo capacity, small accuracy and a difficult spray pattern which makes it terrible at longer distances.
Dual Berettas Unfortunately, Dual Berettas do not cause much damage - an armored opponent will take two headshots to kill. Taking under advisement the fact that there are better weapons, Dual Berettas are not worth the money spent.
Desert Eagle A pistol that is lethal at any range. Desert Eagle (costing 700$) is the most powerful secondary weapon. Its firepower is so huge that a single headshot or two torso hits will be enough to deal with an armored opponent. Unfortunately, the weapon only holds 7 bullets and has powerful recoil which makes it difficult to handle during burst fire. |
Rifles
Screen | Description |
FAMAS The cheapest rifle available to Counter-Terrorists. Can dispose of an unarmed opponent with a single shot. Unfortunately, armored opponents mean trouble, as FAMAS has low armor penetration. The weapon has two firing modes and works best on the close and medium range. FAMAS has one more downside - long reload times.
M4A4 The most popular CT weapon. Costing 3100$, the M4A4 can kill an unarmed opponent with a single headshot. An armored opponent will need 2 bullets. When it comes to damage, M4A4 gives way to terrorists' powerhouse the AK-47. M4A4 has a 30-bullet clip, while its spray pattern is quite easy to imitate. The spray pattern is as follows: first seven bullets drag the barrel down, the next three bullets take a right turn, and the next ten continue in that direction. The next five drag the barrel left, while the final five do not have to be countered. Learning the spray pattern can be divided into following steps:
If you are an aggressive player liking close range combat and firing a lot of bullets, M4A4 is a gun for you.
M4A1-S M4A1-S is a replacement for the aforementioned M4A4. In opposition to the former gun, M4A1-S only holds 20 bullets, but has a silencer and a simpler spray pattern. To mitigate the recoil, drag the barrel down for the first seven bullets, then drag the crosshair down and a little to the right. The next ten bullets go right, so you need to drag the mouse left. Learning the spray pattern can be divided into following steps:
If your style is more defensive and you like ranged combat and stealth attacks, choose M4A1-S.
AUG A rifle that may not be the cheapest, but is characterized by good accuracy and rate of fire. Moreover, AUG has a scope with optical zoom that can be used to aim down its sights. The spray pattern is simple, which makes AUG a good weapon for all distances. Interestingly enough, AUG deals more damage than M4A4, enabling you to kill an armored opponent with a single shot from a close range. Remember to use the zoom when firing at a longer distance, or otherwise you'll lose valuable seconds during which you could fire a few rounds.
SCAR-20 A very expensive rifle equipped with an optical zoom, short reload time and a simple spray pattern. Moreover, SCAR-20 causes much damage, but it is very heavy and expensive at the same time.
SSG08 An inexpensive and light sniper rifle that causes much damage. As can be expected from a sniper rifle, SSG08 has a scope with two-time zoom. Interestingly enough, you can move around with the same speed even when aiming down the rifle's sights.
AWP AWP is the most powerful sniper rifle in the game. Equipped with a two-time zoom and incredible accuracy, this weapon needs only a single shot to eliminate your target at once. Moreover, AWP's penetration is so high that an opponent may not be able to save himself even when hiding behind an obstacle or a door. Downsides include price, weight and low efficiency at close quarters and when against a larger group of opponents.

SMGs
Image | Description |
MP9 The cheapest SMG available for the Counter-Terrorists, which is unfortunately characterized by its inaccuracy, especially when fired in short bursts. While firing a long burst you need to pull the barrel of the gun slightly downwards, in order to counteract the recoil. After a while the bullets will scatter a bit to the left, and then to the right, forming a distinctive T pattern. Remember to always aim at the head while firing, since the MP9 has very weak armor penetration. The MP9 works best when used on short distances.
PP-Bizon Most definitely the worst weapon from the SMG family. The PP-Bizon has very weak armor penetration, making it deal almost insignificant amounts of damage. When you take into account the fact that it costs more than the much more useful UMP-45, it becomes obvious that the PP-Bizon is not a weapon you should ever consider purchasing.
MP7 A weapon with much better accuracy than the MP9 and also much better stability when it comes to bullet scatter. This makes the MP7 an effective weapon both on short and medium distances.
UMP-45 Similarly, to the MP7, the UMP-45 offers good accuracy and stability. Thanks to these qualities, the UMP-45 can be used effectively both on short and medium distances. When you compare both of the aforementioned weapons, the UMP-45 turns out to be 500$ cheaper than the MP7, and it also deals greater damage, making it the better choice for your main firearm.
P90 The P90 is the most expensive of the SMGs. It has a large magazine, a high rate of fire and a low weight, allowing you to move around the battlefield very quickly. Unfortunately, it will only allow you to kill with a single shot if you hit an unarmored opponent in the head. Another flaw of this firearm is the long reload time, which can prove to be fatal in consequences if you are caught in the middle of an open area with not enough ammo in your clip. The P90 works best when used on short and medium distances. It is most effective when fired in one, constant burst, since the recoil of this weapon is very easily controlled. |
Heavy weapons
Image | Description |
MAG-7 Distinguished by its high accuracy, even mid-jump, as well as its very good damage, the MAG-7 is the most commonly used shotgun in the game. In close quarters, the MAG-7 can kill an opponent not only via a shot to the head but also by hitting the chest, arm or abdomen. The MAG-7 also has one other important feature that makes it different than other shotguns - it cannot be fired while reloading, since it requires you to replace the entire magazine.
Nova A very cheap shotgun with quite a good accuracy on both short and slightly larger distances due to its low bullet spread. Unfortunately, the Nova has a very low rate of fire, which will often give you only once chance at eliminating your opponent. Since the Nova deals less damage than other shotguns, it is recommended to get into the habit of aiming at the enemy's head.
XM1014 The shotgun with the highest rate of fire and capable of inflicting serious damage. Due to its rate of fire and armor penetration, it is the perfect weapon for close quarters combat. Regrettably, the XM1014 is a very expensive weapon for a shotgun, and spending your cash on a more versatile firearm could be the wiser choice.
M249 A weapon with a high rate of fire and an enormous magazine. It allows you to kill a foe with a single headshot. Unfortunately, the M249 is hugely expensive, extremely heavy, reloading the magazine takes an age, and the bullet spread is hard to control.
The Negev The Negev is a much better choice than the M249. It too has a high rate of fire, a sizable clip, high damage and armor/cover penetration. Interestingly, after firing 15 bullets the weapon does not have any additional recoil, allowing you to fire an extremely accurate burst without taking your finger off of the trigger. Alas, just as in the case of the M249, the Negev is very heavy and the reload time leaves much to be desired. |
