[6:03] Counter-Strike: Global Offensive CS:GO introduction
[0:50] Counter-Strike: Global Offensive update trailer
Destructoid: 9.5 / 10 by Allistair Pinsof
It may lack some of the community niceties, beloved maps (Assault, anyone?), and little features of past games, but Global Offensive delivers on the promise of a faithful, polished, and better looking Counter-Strike for whoever wants it.
Cheat Code Central: 4 / 5 by Josh Engen
Every time I launched CS:GO this week, I couldn't help but feel like it was a step backwards in my gaming evolution. It's new, but it's entirely familiar as well. The learning curve is shallow and I know I'm probably going to enjoy it before I even start.
IGN: 8 / 10 by Mitch Dyer
A top-tier tactics game that will probably share the long-tailed legacy of its predecessors.
The main pros of the game
- Graphics and Visuals: Many players appreciate the updated graphics, enhanced smoke physics, and overall visual fidelity provided by the Source 2 engine, making maps like Dust 2 and Mirage look significantly better.
- Core Gameplay: The fundamental mechanics of Counter-Strike?team-based dynamics, strategy, and competitive gameplay?remain intense and engaging, maintaining the essence of the franchise.
- Nostalgia and Community: Longtime players express a sense of nostalgia and enjoyment from the classic Counter-Strike experience, even amidst the game's issues.
The main cons of the game
- Cheating Problems: A significant number of reviews highlight the rampant presence of cheaters, including aimbots and wallhacks, which detracts from the competitive experience and frustrates players.
- Matchmaking and Ranking Issues: Players report that the matchmaking system is flawed, often pairing them with players of significantly different skill levels. The ranking system is described as broken and inconsistent.
- Performance Issues: Many users complain about poor optimization, lag spikes, and inconsistent frame rates, making the game feel unresponsive at times.
- Lack of Content and Features: Several reviews mention missing maps and game modes from CS:GO, as well as a lack of community support and custom mods, which were integral to the previous versions of the game.
The features or elements that are missing from the game according to users
- Effective Anti-Cheat System: Users express disappointment with the current anti-cheat measures, calling for improvements to effectively combat cheaters.
- Return of Classic Maps and Modes: There are requests for the reintroduction of popular maps and game modes from CS:GO that are currently absent in CS2.
- Improved Matchmaking Transparency: Players desire a clearer and more reliable matchmaking system that accurately reflects player skill levels.
- Community Engagement and Support: Many reviews highlight a perceived lack of communication and support from Valve regarding community feedback and game improvements.
Summary
- Overall, while Counter-Strike 2 has potential due to its graphical enhancements and core gameplay, the overwhelming issues related to cheating, performance, and missing content have left many players dissatisfied and yearning for the stability and enjoyment they experienced in previous iterations of the franchise.

Counter-Strike: Global Offensive Description
Counter-Strike: Global Offensive for PC, PS3 and X360 is another, after Counter-Strike: Source, attempt at refreshing the popular shooter that started out as a Half-Life modification. Despite the changes and all the time that has passed, the title remains great teamwork-based action game.
Gameplay
Two teams, terrorists and special forces, are pitted against each other trying to stop the other party from achieving their objective. We are awarded cash for each enemy we have killed, allowing us to buy better weapons and equipment at the beginning of each round.
The list of available armaments was expanded with several items, including Molotov cocktail, decoy grenade, IMI Negev, Tec-9, Mag-7, Sawed-Off, PP-Bizon as well as Taser. The last one is particularly interesting — although expensive — for it allows you to instantly one-shot an opponent.
Game modes
There are four game modes available: Arms Race, Demolition, Classic: Casual, and Classic: Competitive. The first is a variation of the classic deathmatch — after killing an enemy, we receive a new gun. The second one works similarly, although the game is divided into rounds, just like in classic modes. The third, as the name suggests, is meant for beginners, and its task is to introduce them to Counter-Strike by disabling friendly fire, among other things. Classic: Competitive, in turn, is devoid of all conveniences.
Counter-Strike: Global Offensive for PC, PS3 and X360 offers seven maps: five "de_" (planting/disarming bombs) and two "cs_" (hostage rescue). Each one is based on its counterpart from the previous installments. The fans will surely recognize their names: Dust, Dust2, Aztec, Nuke, Inferno, Italy, and Office. Of course, some some improvements were made, though only to improve the gaming experience.
Technology
The matchmaking system was also overhauled, and now seeks opponents based on our skill level. Apart from Valve servers, the players may also host their own games.
