Character switching is the bread and butter of combat

In the initial seconds of the first clash you'll be informed of the ability to dynamically switch between titular Banishers. This feature is one of the basic elements of gameplay in the new production from Don't Nod and you should get comfortable with it right away.

1. The abilities of each member of the duo will come in handy when fighting different opponents, with both heroes and their skills creating a well-rounded team.
2. Anteia's high mobility (Leap skill) will allow you to quickly close the distance on the battlefield.
3. In critical situations, a fast switch from Red to Anteia will help you avoid death, as in the case of the heroine, losing all her energy doesn't equal game over (as opposed to Red losing all of his health).
4. Many skills that you'll unlock in the character tree involve efficient "juggling" between characters.

Avoid using lock-on during larger clashes

Like many other third-person titles, Banishers allows you to lock the camera on a selected opponent during combat. This function is extremely useful during clashes with lone opponents and bosses. However, we have noticed that during battles with larger groups of opponents, locking the camera may make it difficult to move efficiently around the battlefield and properly control the situation. Don't be afraid to disable lock-on in such situations, as even without this option, the game interprets the player's commands quite well and the attacks land correctly on the enemy you want.

Experiment and have fun with levelling up and trying out different equipment

Evolution, the game's character development system, offers a wide range of interesting abilities and bonuses that increase battle potential of the fearless pair of slayers. It is worth noting that it is very flexible and liberal with regard to player choices. If the ability you've learned doesn't fall to your liking, there is nothing prohibiting you from rolling back the previously chosen Talent or Presence, in progress retrieving the spent Skill Point or Essence.

When trying to get more out of the heroes, equipment also plays a major role. Obtained outfits, accessories, and weapons provide different bonuses when equipped that may work well in combination with learned skills.

By returning to visited locations after unlocking new abilities, you'll be able to access previously unavailable pathways and secrets. New tools and abilities such as the musket, destroying walls, or opening special chests will reveal completely new areas of already explored locations.

After completing the story for the given location, you'll be additionally treated to something in the vein of an epilogue, which will present the further fate of the characters you've met earlier. Pay attention to special conditions of the given clash

Some larger clashes (mainly those near nests) will enforce special rules. Pay special attention to these modifiers, as behavior not adhering to these rules will make the fight much more difficult.

The key is always near the chest

One of the types of collectibles in Banishers are special, locked chests that can only be opened with an appropriate key. However, there is a rule that makes the search for the key much easier - it is supposed to be in the near vicinity of the chest. If you happen to encounter a mysterious key without an use or a locked chest, the other piece of the puzzle should be somewhere close.

This rule also applies to wooden figurines and cursed chests, but not to treasure maps. A map found in one location may refer to an area in a completely different part of the world.
