The new production from Don't Nod studio puts the player in the middle of an expansive world filled to the brim with secrets, collectibles, and side quests. Many players may wonder whether after completing the main story, they will be able to return to exploring the map and complete the remaining plotlines/activities. On this page of our guide, we will try to answer this question, as well as show what to do to get the most out of the game in one playthrough.
Can you play after story?
To answer the question asked in the title of the page - unfortunately no. The ending and credits in Banishers end the plotlines presented in the production conclusively and the player cannot return to the map again after seeing these developments. An attempt to use the "Continue" option from the main menu will result in loading an automatic save point from before the fight with the final boss.
For this reason, it is very important to complete all the activities that interest you before embarking on the final stages of the story. After the final showdown, the pair of titular Banishers will no longer be able to return to the previously visited regions of New England. Fortunately, with some knowledge, you can respond to that, which we will explain in the next subsection.
Where is the point of no return?
The following segment contains plot spoilers.
You will reach the previously mentioned "Point of No Return" at the end of the "Love Finds Way" story quest. After finding the Seeker, who took over the role of the witch after the deceased master, you will be directed to the gates of the Void, from where you will go to the town of New Eden for the final battle with the Horror.
This entry into the dark dimension will be a moment beyond which you will no longer be able to return to exploring the world. Fortunately, the game very clearly marks the mentioned climax, making it very difficult to accidentally go past it.
We strongly recommend that you save your game manually before this point. In a situation where you would like to return to the game later, this save will allow you to continue playing without worrying about the inability to return.
