Summary
The English are not an aggressive civilization. When playing the English, you should try to take over as much territory as possible, create a network of Castles and Towers that will give your units a bonus to attack speed and arrow range. Given the benefits of fighting near these outposts, you should always focus on defense. Even ordinary Villagers, equipped with short bows, receive bonuses from nearby buildings, making them useful in defending the City Center, for example.
Defending sites such as the Sacred Sites may require setting up a new Town Center, walls and towers to take advantage of the capabilities of the English unique unit, the Longbowman. These superb archers, in addition to their increased range, will gain the ability to set up camps to regenerate their health after purchasing the appropriate technology.
English Civilization, despite its susceptibility to siege machines, with skillful planning and placement of appropriate buildings will allow you to slowly but effectively dominate the entire map.
