Enhancing weapons
To enhance a weapon you must first enter the Weapons tab. That's where you'll find the weapons you've unlocked. If they're marked with exclamation marks, this means you don't have them / haven't unlocked the corresponding Simulacra.
Then select the weapon you wish to enhance. You need to have a Weapon Battery of any level to do so. They're consumable resources used to grant experience points to weapons. Once you reach the experience cap, select the Enhance option to upgrade the weapon's abilities and stats.
You need specific resources, such as Cores, to enhance weapons to high levels. The required Core matches the weapon's element. As an example, you'll need Icecores to upgrade Ice weapons.
Unlocking new weapon abilities
Take a closer look at the weapons - they have six stars attributed to them. Each new star means you've unlocked an additional stat boost or weapon ability. You can check the exact bonuses by scrolling down the weapon description.
You must own a weapon's Fusion Core to do so. You can obtain them by pulling an already-owned weapon, or rather a Simulacra. They can also be obtained by purchasing weapons from a special store or by completing specific quests.
After obtaining a Fusion Core, enter the Weapons tab, choose the weapon the core of which you've obtained, then enter the Advancement tab on the left. You need the core and enough gold in order to advance the weapon.
Matrices
In addition to the standard weapon upgrades, you can also use Matrices to upgrade the weapon further. These are chips that you can socket on each weapon up to 4 times. There are different categories of Matrices:
- Mind,
- Memory,
- Belief,
- Emotion.
Aside from the increase in statistics they offer, each has a rarity that further increases the upgrade to the weapon stats.
- N - common, green,
- R - unusual, blue,
- SR - rare, purple,
- SSR - very rare, golden.
You can also increase the power of each Matrice to further increase the upgrade. Moreover, each comes with an information to which set it belongs to. If a given weapon has a certain amount of the same Matrices, (the rarest activate when there are 2 identical ones, more common when you have 3 of them installed), you receive an additional bonus to weapon damage.
What are the benefits of enhancing weapons?
Enhancing weapons increases their damage, your health and resistance to elements. Obtaining a new star grants the weapon a new effect or a passive buff.
Why can't I enhance weapons?
There may be several reasons why you can't enhance your weapons. First, you must check if you have the money, Weapon Batteries or Cores you need. If you have the materials required and can't enhance anyway, your character level might be too low. Some text informing you of this should appear under the materials.
