Skills & Abilities of characters in Total War Saga Thrones of Britannia Total War Saga: Thrones of Britannia Guide & Tips

character can gain a new rank level by earning experience points. Each level provides skill points. These, in turn, can be used to permanently assign one of several followers available to all characters. Some increase statistics, others affect public order or special values, e.g. army movement points.
You can accelerate the development of your subjects by sending them into the battle. Every battle, especially one which has ended with your victory, will provide additional experience points. Some special faction traits, events, technologies and buildings in the capital provide an increase in the number of experience points earned per turn.
The list of followers with their descriptions:
- Champion - the only follower that develops the Command statistic. In addition, it strengthens the general's unit. With each level, the unit becomes more powerful and the general gains special skills. This is the best choice for any army commander, especially one with low levels of Command.
- Scribe - this is the best and the most frequently chosen follower for a provincial governor. Each level will help you increase the Governance stat. In addition, he ensures higher tax revenues, and at the maximum level, accelerates the construction of buildings and building upgrades in the province. He does not provide any bonuses for generals, so he is a viable follower only for governors.
- Bard - thanks to this skill, the character will strengthen his Zeal and increase his Fame. This way, you will improve public order and will find it easier to control the level of satisfaction in a province. This is useful for both generals and governors. Several generals in a specific region will quickly silence any rebellious intent. At higher levels, the Bard reduces the movement speed of enemy armies.
- Forager - this follower is useful when you have many generals and governors but you produce little food. Thanks to this follower, you can easily increase your food production and, at higher levels, reduce the food production in a hostile province. In addition, he speeds up the process of recovering casualties in your units, which makes him quite useful for any general.
- Pillager - a character that has this particular follower will become a master raider. This is an obvious choice for generals, but also for all nations that rely on raiding. It is worth developing this follower in the case of a general, whom you plan to send to a distant war, the aim of which is not to gain land but to weaken the opponent's economy and expand your own treasury. Higher levels offer a morale and supply-lowering bonus for any enemy army in the province, and the highest level blocks the option of replenishing unit casualties. An extremely useful follower, especially when fighting against a stronger opponent.
- Quartermaster - a very useful skill. It increases the range of the army's movement and reduces the cost of maintaining units under the general's banner. It also increases the army's level of supply. This is one of the most useful skills for any general because it allows you to catch up with hostile armies, occupy neighboring settlements in just one turn, and to start sieges as quickly as possible.
- Priest - this follower provides two things: each point provides an increase in loyalty and lowers the public order in a hostile province. You can develop this follower for a character with low loyalty or one whom you plan to send to an enemy province as a kind of "saboteur", who is supposed to cause a rebellion. The highest level of this follower causes losses in the ranks of enemy armies. It is a dangerous combination when developed together with the Pillager, who blocks unit replenishment.
- Siege Engineer - this follower grants a set of bonuses that will help you defend your cities longer and more effectively. This is a great choice for any governor, who is supposed to defend the provincial capital, or as a secondary follower, for an average governor or general who will support a given capital.
For a governor, the Scribe (larger profits) and the bard (if you have problems with public order in the province) are the best choices. After these two options have been explored, you can choose the Forager (faster regeneration of the garrison and additional supplies), the Siege Engineer (more resilient defense) or the Priest (if the character has a problem with loyalty).
Army commanders should receive the following set of followers: for the general who is going to spearhead your assaults and lead the main army, it is best to choose the Champion (better Command) together with the Quartermaster (longer movement range and less unit maintenance). For the "saboteur" type, it is best to choose the Pillager (greater profits from raiding) and the Priest (he reduces public order in enemy provinces). The Bard can also be a good choice, especially for generals who are supposed to calm down the population in your own provinces.
