Influence is a special parameter that determines the political strength of each character. This is a very important factor for the head of the kingdom. Each faction leader needs strong political influence to ensure a good position in the international arena and within his own country.

  1. If the faction leader has 3 or fewer influence points, he receives suffers a punishment towards political relations and diplomatic relations with other kingdoms, as well as lower fame, a reduction of loyalty of all characters, and penalties towards public order,
  2. 4 influence points is a neutral state, which provides only one fame point,
  3. However, 5 and more provide bonuses towards public order (even +5 for all provinces), fame and ensure better relations with other nations.
In addition, Influence is a type of currency needed to carry out the majority of actions in the Intrigue panel (in the faction window) - Influence of characters in Total War Saga Thrones of Britannia - Characters - Total War Saga: Thrones of Britannia Game Guide

In addition, Influence is a type of currency needed to carry out the majority of actions in the Intrigue panel (in the faction window). Acquiring loyalty, assassinations or lowering influence of other characters will most often use some of your own influence. Some events and political dilemmas will use or change this value. A high level of influence facilitates negotiations with other countries.

You can increase your Influence by:

  1. Holding a feast (intrigue panel in the faction window). You will usually earn 1-3 influence points for a few thousand gold pieces. It is worth having some extra money in store for unexpected events,
  2. Acquiring new estates (by conquering a province, striping other characters of their estates, or by building some structures),
  3. Gaining items or additional traits, e.g. by commanding in a victorious battle or through direct combat of the general's retinue with a hostile force,
  4. Choosing the correct wife,
  5. Random events.

What is more, if a character has more points than the faction leader, it will cause many problems to the stability of the realm. Often times, such a character will exalt himself or forget his place in the hierarchy and will begin to create problems. Most often you will have to spend money, but sometimes more painful events will occur. Therefore, maintain a high influence level or reduce the influence of other characters.
