How to increase your profit and food in Total War Saga Thrones of Britannia? Total War Saga: Thrones of Britannia Guide & Tips
Last update: 14 May 2018
Gold and food are the most important resources for warfare, maintaining your country and army. Be sure to have sufficient supplies of both of them before you start expanding your territory.
How to get more food for your kingdom?
Food is necessary if you want to recruit new units. Each unit requires at least 10 food. This resource also determines how fast a given unit can replenish its troops (increasing a number of troopers in a unit). Having no food not only impacts your army negatively but it also lowers public order in all provinces. Try to maintain your food supplies at a reasonable level.
Main ways of getting more food:
- upgrade buildings in settlements (farms, orchards, fishing ports)
- build special structures in towns (e.g. a granary)
- capture settlements that have buildings from the Agriculture tree
- develop "Forager" skill in any of your generals or governors
Food can't be traded nor stored for later. Because of that you should take care of your settlements and remember to repair agricultural buildings first before any other structures. A good strategy is to capture enemy settlements to cut them off food supplies. However, each unit has a certain amount of this resource (this allows troops to survive when they are far away from their lands).
How to get more gold for your treasury?
Upgrading structures in currently owned provinces is the easiest way to get more gold.
- Start by upgrading industry-related buildings (buildings have a gray background). These structures have a negative impact on public order. However, they give you the biggest income. Also, higher levels reduce building costs of structures from other categories.
- Then, you should take care of Agriculture buildings (the green ones) and Trade structures (colored in yellow). Farms, orchards and fishing ports give you a small amount of gold but they are the only way of getting more food for your kingdom. Pastures give you a rather good profit and bonuses to incomes for other industry branches.
- The last group are churches (purple color). They can be placed in towns and they need gold to keep them active. However, they usually increase income from other buildings. Their another advantage is that they have a positive impact on order in your kingdom.
- Military buildings (the red ones) don't provide you any profit - they need gold to stay active. Avoid them at the beginning of the game.
Assign a governor to a province (preferably someone who has a lot of Governance points). This person can grant bonuses to profits and they can eliminate corruption in land. Develop "Scribe" skill to further increase their abilities and profits. Also, more Zeal points can have a positive impact on public order in that province.
You can now focus on maximizing your profits. Focus on buildings in your capital that will work the best with settlements. Build a Forge or build a Blacksmith if there are a lot of industrial buildings. However, if there are, e.g. farms and pastures and you place one building for Agriculture and another church structure (provided that order is at a high level), you will only waste potential and possible income of that province. A better idea is to place structures that help agriculture or trade.
Also, you should pay attention to who is governing a province. Some characters have additional skills that can have impact on a certain branch of industry, e.g. miner or priest. Thanks to that you can get even more income from their province. Be sure to find a good wife for those men, preferably one who can boost their stats or have a positive impact on public order.
