As you expand your beaver colony in Timberborn, you will want to access neighboring islands or remote areas. On this page you will find several ways to build bridges by creating platforms or lodges.
Beavers can swim!
The easiest way to get to the other side of the river is to swim across it. Beavers, however, will not jump into the water anywhere. In order to swim to the other side of the river, the beaver will have to descend the stairs to the river. Make sure to build them on both sides of the shore. You also don't have to worry about transporing materials. The beavers are prudent enough to secure the resources by storing them in a backpack or crate.
Platforms
Platforms are the cheapest and fastest way to build a bridge. Buying the ability to craft platforms costs 100 science points, which you earn through the inventor's building.
Building one platform costs 2 logs and 4 planks. You will have 3 platforms of different heights at your disposal, but remember that you can put one platform on top of another.
After building the platform bridge, you still have to put a path on it. Without a designated path, your beavers won't be able to reach the buildings on the other side of the bridge.
Bridges
Putting up a suspension bridge requires a lot of resources. Such bridges are also limited in length. Buying the basic suspension bridge of 1 unit of length is only enough to build a passage that's no longer than 2 units, since such bridges must always be suspended on one side against the ground or other objects.
You can combine suspension bridges with platforms, allowing you to build even the longest combinations and providing access to remote areas.
Building roofs
Some buildings have the solid status, which allows them to serve as bridges. One of the Folktail faction houses has an entrance on level 2. On its roof you can build a path for your beavers to cross to the other side of the shore. These houses won't stop the flow of water, i.e. they won't act as dams.
Remember that the entrance to the building should never be underwater and that you need to provide stairs leading to the path on the roof.
