There are 2 factions of beavers to choose from in Timberborn. Folktails and Iron Teeth have different breeding methods. This page of the game guide explains how to increase the population of your colony as quickly as possible.
Current number of beavers
You can find the current population in the upper left corner of the screen. It indicates the total number of adult and juvenile beavers. A young beaver needs 6 days to reach maturity before it can start working.
Folktails
Folktails breed naturally. To increase their population, you have to build them enough houses. If all lodges are occupied, new beavers will have nowhere to give birth.
In the upper left corner of the screen, under the population numbers, you will find the number of lodges, vacancies and homeless beavers.
If you want to quickly increase the population of Folktails, build them new homes and meet their needs that provide fertility bonuses. Campfires and rooftop terraces are buildings from the social life tab that will increase the fertility of your beavers. When you reduce working hours, the beavers will have more time to visit these buildings.
Iron Teeth
The Iron Teeth require special buildings in order to breed. Building a breeding pod costs 10 logs, while spawning a baby beaver requires 5 pieces of food and water and takes 5 days.
When playing as the Iron Teeth faction, it's a good idea to put the breeding pods on hold as soon as they are about to produce a young beaver in order to more easily regulate the colony's population increase. This way, whenever you run out of workers, you can quickly turn the incubators back on and get a new recruit after a while.
Buildings that cater to social life don't provide fertility bonuses to the Iron Teeth, but this need still contributes toward the colony's total happiness score.
