Further expansion This War of Mine Guide
Last update: 11 May 2016
Assuming that after your first trip everyone is still rather unscathered (chapter about night trips can be found in further part of the guide), you might proceed to further expansion of your hideout. At this point you should have crude stove to create meals, metal workshop to create various tools and a single bed for one of your characters. Obviously, it's not enough. So what's next? You should start second day by creating another bed and rainwater collector. Remember, that you need a filter to use rainwater. Although after activating the action symbol the device will start automatically gather water, but without the filter to purify it you can't use it to cook meal (or create alcohol). It's hard to say if after spending resources on the previously mentioned upgrades you will still have enough materials to create more useful items. It depends on how much have you gathered in the city during the night. The next thing to "buy" - for example at third or fourth day - should be radio, which can help your team in two ways. First, it can inform you about increased bandits activity (and thus give you some time to prepare for an assault), secondly, it gives you heads up about the weather change. If it's about to get cold, you should quickly build a heater. Regularly fueled it gives you protection from illness during cold days. However, it won't be needed during the first days, so you could build a moonshire in its place. There is only one problem with it - not everyone will enjoy maybe not to complicate, but very time consuming crafting. If you like to play with crafting, you can build moonshire and mass-produce cheap alcohol, which can later be traded for some more valuable consumables, like food and medicaments. If you prefer to find items by your own, you can postpone building moonshire until you unlock alcohol distiller at third crafting station level. Distiller will allow you to create more complicated drugs and cigars.
