Take whatever you can!

While exploring the tenement, your characters will find many lockers and places full of seemingly useless stuff, which during the war times might become crucial for surviving. After searching through a furniture or dumping you will see two bookmarks. One shows your current belongings, and the other show found supplies. At the beginning you shouldn't be too picky and take whatever you find. Later you will learn which items are more useful than others and which can be left behind. Your team can store tons of stuff in common storage in tenement, where you have lots of space. It's different during night levels in the city. Items are grouped in different categories, which show their primary purpose. There are some food items, drugs, building materials and equipment, not necessary used only for digging and opening doors. During the game, you will often meet some non playable characters. For your own safety - and safety of your entire group - you will simply have to kill them. No one said it would be easy. Life is brutal, my friend.

Every item picked in the tenement automatically goes to the common storage. It's a bit different with food and curing items. They will still be available in storage, but additionally you can access them through the fridge or medicine chest. Both these items are located on common level of the building (ground floor). It allows sick and wounded characters to easily gain access to healing items, and hungry can get something to eat with a single click of mouse on a specific action symbol. Not everyone likes to eat raw meat, so it's a good idea to cook it before eating. You can do that with a crude stove, which is one of the additional equipment of the hideout. To create a crude stove and other special items like radio or simple heater, you must have the necessary materials and begin construction at the special crafting station.
