How to dodge?
Upon entering Kyononis Shrine, you will be attacked by a Zonai robot. It'll try to strike you vertically with a sword. To dodge the blow, lock on the camera to it with ZL, keep sidestepping with the left analog stick and then jump with X. Do it at the last possible moment before you're hit for a perfect dodge.

Approach the robot, lock on to it and dodge to the side once it starts bringing its sword down. If you succeed, time will slow down. Press Y to activate Flurry Rush.
The next step is backflipping away from an enemy strike. Lock on to the robot again, but this time instead of tilting the analog stick to the side, tilt it down and then jump. Time will slow down if done correctly. Flurry Rush the robot to proceed.
The next phase will teach you how to parry enemy attacks. Equip a shield, lock on to the enemy with ZL and then press A when its sword gets close. Successful parries are indicated by a blue burst.
The last lesson is about charged attacks. Hold down Y, then release it shortly after.
How to open the chest?
After defeating the robot, head to the Shrine exit. There's a chest there, which you can open freely. You'll be rewarded with a Zonaite Sword, which deals more damage when Fused with Zonai devices.
