Support Units in Steel Division 2 Steel Division 2 guide, tips

Last update: 21 August 2019

This category includes units of miscellaneous types which are difficult to classify in other categories. From direct support units and specialists to commanders and supply wagons. Each of these divisions of troops performs well in specific conditions and in the role for which it was created for.

Commander

Commanders are, in short, an improved leader. They provide +2 levels of experience, which makes this unit very valuable for your army. You can easily increase the effectiveness of nearby units. What's more, his bonus is transferred to other leaders and his aura of command within the range of his radio - 1500 meters. Any leader in the range of a commander can transfer this bonus to other leaders in his range. This is an expensive unit and you can only call 1-2 troops of such type for the whole battle. It's worth holding it back, for example with artillery, so that it can provide a bonus to other commanders. Some commanders will appear as defenseless units, small infantry units or tanks.

Flame Tank

They are flamethrowers mounted on various models of tanks and armored vehicles. It allows you to deal effectively with infantry. Their armor allows you to fight your opponent longer than infantry troops with flamethrowers. Such vehicles will quickly approach the enemy, but they still have to be careful of armor-piercing troops.

Supply trucks dont just replenish ammunition. They can also carry out field repairs and restore abandoned vehicles to working order. If your tank is standing still because your crew has been killed, all you need to do is put a supply truck (1) in order to use it again after a while with a fresh crew (2). - Support Units in Steel Division 2 - Units - Steel Division 2 Guide

HMG Team

These small troops are equipped with heavy versions of very long range machine guns. They also have a large supply of ammunition, and their attack quickly suppresses the morale of the enemy. It is an ideal unit for defending a large area of land against the enemy infantry. It is best to set up units in the corners of cities or forests to cover as much territory as possible.

Of course, the distance is also important. It is worth to use them in an open area (largest area possible), so that the enemy infantry cannot approach and surprise the team with the CKM from a short distance. Also, this unit is exposed to enemy artillery, because the traces of their missiles are easy to track. This team is defenseless against tanks, so the ideal combination is to set up a CKM with an anti-tank gun.

Assault Gun, Infantry Gun

These guns operate primarily on HE ammo, which are intended to literally destroy infantry and other "soft" troops. Such cannons must have direct contact with their target, unlike artillery. On the other hand, such troops are very accurate and usually have large caliber guns. For example, Brummbar, SU-152 or Churchill AVRE are excellent examples of heavy infantry support. These are ideal vehicles for cleaning the foreground, cities and forests from enemy infantry and other "light" enemy troops. A big disadvantage is the low efficiency in battles against other armored vehicles. Therefore it is worth to always move this unit together with tanks or tank destroyers.

Supply Truck

Contrary to appearances, this is a very important part of your army. As it is the only type of unit which is able to replenish the ammunition of nearby units. It is very useful for your anti-tank guns, infantry with anti-tank weapons or artillery, which always needs ammunition as first. Moreover, supply trucks can repair damaged vehicles or even "recover" abandoned vehicles (the so-called "Bailed out" status).
