5. Panzer | Divisions of the Axis in Steel Division 2 Steel Division 2 guide, tips
Last update: 20 August 2019
The 5th Panzer Division is one of the best battle groups available from the Axis faction. It is based primarily on the large number of available tanks and strong anti-tank support. You can add up to 10 tank cards where the first 5 cards cost only one point. In this way, the creation of a strong and numerous strike team will not be a problem. Destroying tanks is always a challenge, and a large number of powerful machines is always a problem for the enemy.
The greatest advantage of this division is the high availability of strong armored units. Apart from the mentioned number of 10 places, you can add only the best tanks to the battle group. For example, you can call a large number of Panzer IV H, cheap medium tanks with good parameters, which will be basic units. These are the only vehicles of the division in this category that cost less than 100 requisition points. The remaining units are heavy and very strong tanks, but all cost between 120-130 requisition points, i.e. Tigers, Panthers A and G. The very thick front armor, the high penetration cannon with a very long range and the access to experienced units make these units a very strong part of the army. You must take care of your tanks so that they do not fall prey to air strikes, infantry ambushes or anti-tank guns.
The drawback of this division is the number of infantry and reconnaissance units you can summon. All tanks have poor optics, so they have to rely on other units to know what to shoot at. The number of reconnaissance troops is very diverse, but the amount of space is limited - only 3 card slots with a total cost of 6 activation points. On the other hand, you have access to infantry reconnaissance, combat vehicles or the reconnaissance version of Panther A! This is the strongest reconnaissance unit in the game. It is an ideal reconnaissance vehicle, which is a great complement to the armored impact group, because it has the same statistics as the regular Panther A, but it makes up for it with great optics.
Similarly, infantry has a large selection of specialized units, but the number of slots and cards is limited. The best choice here is the Armored Grenadier Infantry - there are two versions available here, where one of them has an anti-tank weapon. Other troops are purely situational and you have to decide which troops are useful for your battle group. The choice of artillery is also quite wide. You can choose between mortars, field guns and artillery observers. An interesting types of unit is available in the anti-aircraft category. You can summon the Flak 88 anti-aircraft battery canon to the battlefield, which can fire at both planes and tanks over a distance of 2 kilometers. This is definitely one of the best universal units available for the German side. The force of penetration of this cannon is enormous and every Allied tank must be afraid of it.
