It's time to rescue your old companion. This time you will take control over Mugen and Aiko for the first time. Your task is to rescue Takuma, who was forced to craft weapons. Skills of your newly added companions will be essential. The two of you start at base of the temple (1). First, obtain a disguise for Aiko, which will make the entire mission easier (2). We recommend the location closer to the starting point (on the left when using the default view on your map). The bell is a very important location, as it will help you to clear the map of monks (3). By the end of the mission, most of these civilians will disappear from the map. Takuma is located at the very end of the map, by the workshop (4).

First you will encounter two guards, looking at each other. Throw a bottle of sake, next to your bush. The lured enemy will leave his post and field of view of the other guard. Eliminate them one by one. When the foe gets close to the wagon and starts moving towards the animal, get rid of the foe in a straw hat, located by the cliff. Take this one out when he gets back to the wagon. Now Mugen should sneak along the bushes, behind the wagon, and use both swords to eliminate the group of enemies. Approach the gate and stand at the door. For now, you won't be able to move forwards without drawing attention to yourself. It's time for Aiko to act.

Move Aiko to cul-de-sac, on the right of the caravan. A single enemy (straw hat) will be standing under the bridge. Throw some sneezing powder at him and run towards the vines to climb up (1). Jump from the wall to wagon with a white tarpaulin, and end on the roof of the wooden stable (2). Now blind the opponent (straw hat), watching the entrance. Make Mugen quickly reach the other side and place him behind the stable.

Mugen should strike. Lure the foe from the small watchtower, but make sure that the foe standing near him does not notice your sake (1). Once he gets near the bushes and passes the watchman, use two swords to kill both of them, and hide the bodies. Now you need to come up with a plan to reach the top. You can walk through the next gate, but you need to follow a specific plan in the right moment, step by step. Get to the roof a little wooden hut (2). Your goal are the vines by the cliff, next to some small, empty wagons. First check the field of view of the civilian located next to a straw hat and the opponent located near the upper gate. You need to jump down in the place where their fields of view meet, further from the civilian. Throw the bottle at the guard on the right in order to make him sneeze/blind, and reach the bushes quickly. You need to perform the entire sequence once the patrol moves towards the bridge. When you finally reach the bushes, squeeze between the stone wall and wagons and get to the vines. There is one guard on the top, so plan your move carefully. Jump off the wooden bridge on the right and eliminate the guard.

Return clothes for Aiko. Stand in front of a tree with a bench, throw some powder at the civilian and quickly run towards the vines. Climb up, throw some more powder at him and eliminate the opponent located on the stairs. Get to the very bottom. Wait for the guard to approach a woman with a disguise and get back on his track. Blind the civilian for the third and last time and reach the bench by moving behind the woman's back. Get rid of both civilians quickly and put on the disguise. Head for the suspension bridge and eliminate guards on your way.

You could send Aiko to ring the bell and get rid of monks but right now only one is standing in your way and you take him out easily on your way, without wasting additional time. By the gate, there is an opponent and a civilian. Distract them in your disguise, by making them look towards the abyss, and draw their attention away from Mugen. He should sneak near the bushes, behind the guards. Now wait for a patrol to come your way and stop at the column. Now draw their attention from the guards at the gate. Use Mugen to finish both groups one by one (two swords). Make Aiko eliminate enemies by the huge stairs. There are two more opponents: one by the wall and the other one will be patrolling the hillside. Make sure that no one is watching and kill the first foe and drag him behind the wall. Mugen should reach his spot and lure the patrolling guard with some alcohol. Take Aiko to the bell and use it to clear the area of monks (you will also get rid of the enemy observing the hillside).

Move towards the building on the right (default view of the map). A straw hat will be changing his position: he will enter the building or stand in front of it. The latter one is your only chance to eliminate him and hide his body in the bushes. Move Mugen closer to Aiko and lure another guard. At the same time, cross the wooden bridge, distract the straw hat and eliminate him. Walk near the path and save your game. There are samurais waiting for you, and it would be a shame to get yourself killed after all the struggle.

This location is protected by samurais, who will notice Aiko in disguise. Sneak towards the only spot where you can put on your disguise again (right above the stairs) (1). Hide Mugen in the bushes next to a small mill. Throw a bottle of sake behind the building, near the stairs. The nearby patrol will notice the bait and come close enough for Mugen to finish them with his two swords. Hide the bodies and pay attention to the field of view of the guard on the other side of the stream (he approaches the samurai from time to time). You are able to lure him to the same spot, the patrol was killed. For a brief moment, his field of view should include the gap between the bushes and the mill, once he gets there, he is all yours. Place Aiko at the bottom, next to the straw hat, and Mugen near the guard on the wooden bridge (he is not in the samurai's field of view). Take out both guards at the same time.

Now kill the group at the mill (lure them with a bottle and make them land right behind the building) and make the way up accessible for Aiko. She will take care of the foe, who is watching samurais bellow. Mugen and his katana can now easily eliminate the opponent in heavy armor. All you have to do is to kill the last of the samurais - he is speaking with Takuma. Head to the cave located under the bell. You should encounter two guards who are no match for Mugen. Use the statue to activate a passage that will let you leave the location.

Badges and achievements

Do not kill anyone when controlling Mugen (except mission targets). You can do this only by using Aiko (later Takuma). As Mugen you can only kill the samurai guarding Takuma. Knock out other samurais and finish them as Aiko. You can still use bottles of sake to lure the enemies.

Use 3 tunnels that will shorten your way. Look for small, green statues on stands. Use them to open new, additional paths.

Mugen has to enter the temple before Aiko. Look for the building with the bell. Mugen can enter first which will complete this achievement.

Do not use the bell. Using the bell will clear the map from civilians and monks. If you won't do this you will have a few more enemies to avoid.
