Mission 1 - Osaka Castle | Walkthrough Shadow Tactics Guide

The first mission is also an introduction to the game and the abilities of two main characters. We assume control of Hayato, the leader of the ninjas, who received the mission to unlock the gate (1) and open it for besieging forces. His allies will join him along the way (2,3). The first part of the mission is rather simple. The game introduces you to basic movements, and shows you how to employ various skills of our heroes. The mission begins on the beach, next to the castle walls (4).

When you reach the rocks, wait until the guard below stops right next to you, and jump on him from your ledge. Approach the fence, and wait until the enemy patrol continues on its route. Then, proceed to the homestead with piled-up bodies, and use your hooks two times. Now move to the other end of the building, and jump from it. There is an enemy on the huge, open yard - you can either eliminate, or sneak past him.

You should be by the next square which is guarded by two enemies. Hide behind the stone, and throw a rock in the direction of the small house to distract both guards. Now, sneak to the descent below. You should receive access to the shuriken. Use it to eliminate both enemies. Pull down the lever, which will create a noise, and clear the way for Mugen. Now, switch to your samurai and go through the gate. Use sake bottle to lure the enemy, and eliminate him right away. Hide in the bushes to get closer to an enemy patrol, and use Sword Wind to eliminate the whole group.

The action before you requires a bit of precision and speed. Nearby, the is a patrol completing its rounds. Eliminate the enemy stationed behind the wagon, and put his body in the nearby building. When the second guard turns his head, attack him and get rid of the body. Proceed to the next yard.

Here, two patrolling guards really limit your range of movements. You have to get rid of them, or you are going to have a hard time clearing this area. Order Hayato to enter the building, and eliminate the guard on the balcony. Start watching the patrol. When the guards go past the building, come out to the yard, and throw a stone to stop them for a moment. Now, throw a shuriken at the outer enemy, and eliminate the remaining one with your sword. Leave the guard by the gate for now. Switch to Mugen, and use Sword Wind to eliminate the officers, and the two guards right next to them. Order Hayato to enter the bushes right next to the guard on the bench. Place Mugen by the gate.

You will now enter Shadow Mode, with a short introduction to show you how to use it. Pass through the gate when the guard is facing the other way. Place one of your heroes by the guard below, and order the second one to stand right next to the guard above. Enter Shadow Mode, and mark both guards. Remember to place your heroes in equal distance to their targets. Activate the plan and watch both guards die. Now, order Hayato to use the ladder, and then jump off the roof and hide in the bushes. Mugen should lure the enemy by placing Sake next to the shed. Then, order him to sneak through the cart, bushes, up to the stationed straw hats. Use Shadow Mode again to eliminate them.

You will receive unexpected support. Takuma is deployed on a tower from which he has a view on all remaining enemies. You could use his rifle to eliminate as many as you can, but spare the ammo and switch to Mugen. Go through the building and eliminate the posted enemies one by one, then leave a Sake bottle by the stairs to lure the enemy to its location. Use Sword Wind to eliminate the three guards standing next to the barrels.

is before you. First, use Hayato to pass through the gate when the guard is not looking. Hide in the bushes, and use the vines and eliminate a Straw Han. Lure the next guard to the jack, preferably using a sake bottle. You will cause a deadly accident, and the second guard will become suspicious, but he will back off. Eliminate him without being detected by the officers, who should be distracted using a stone, and then taken care by Mugen's hand. Keep in mind that you can order Takuma to fire at any troublesome opponent.

Badges and achievements

Do not touch any bushes. This is a difficult task because there are a lot of bushes. You have to manually control your characters so they won't even touch any of the bushes. Hide the bodies in the buildings or in isolated places.

When controlling Hayato use stones to distract 3 enemies. Doing this isn't something difficult to do, the problem is to find such a group. You can try to do this in the beginning of the mission when you have to wait out the briefing of the squad or when you wait near the gate that Mugen has to blow up. Before you eliminate that squad throw the stone over the gate.

Kill 3 enemies using an explosive barrel. There are 4 enemies near the barrel. One is standing before the doors, the second is on a patrol walking between the first one and two marksmen near the wall. You can eliminate the first one, throw the barrel near the group by the wall and shoot it with Takuma. Also, you can put the barrel by the tower's doors, as long as it is in Takuma's reach, call the alarm and detonate the explosive.

Kill 3 enemies using Mugen's Sword Wind. It is recommended to use this ability in the very beginning when you start controlling Mugen. Eliminate the group that is standing before the cannon.
