Mission 11 - Matsuyama City | Walkthrough Shadow Tactics Guide

Hayato an Aiko (1) must capture Lord Naboru's son, Masaru, alive. First, it is good to get a disguise for Aiko - there are two places where you can find it (2). Then, you have to eavesdrop guards in order to find out where Masaru is (3). There will be two ways to capture him alive without drawing too much attention to your team (4). Finally, you will carry him to a boat. This is a challenging mission. It is set at night, but there are many sources of light on the map. What's more, you have only two characters, although they are very mobile and deadly.

First of all, you must eliminate the opponent and civilians in the alley on the right in order to climb up the vines on the roof of the building. Then, walk on, jump down from the building and use the hooks to climb up higher. Use the ropes to get on the other side of the street. Here, you can grab the disguise. May Hayato stand on the scaffold, so he could distract a civilian with a stone - and do it a couple of times (1). When neither the guard on the building nor the patrolling guard are looking, throw a stone at the civilian and eliminate the guard in the bush by the wall (2). Now, repeat that when the patrolling guard (3) gets close and the straw hat faces away. Keep as close to the bush as possible (2). Distract the civilian again and climb up on the roof of the small building in order to eliminate the guard. Now, throw a stone so that Aiko could get the disguise. Come back to the opposite side of the street using rooftops. You must eliminate the enemy on the roof and the one standing on the balcony. Then, climb up the rooftop again and jump down on the guard in the small backyard. Climb up again and go over another street.

Time for some eavesdropping. Eliminating the two samurai is very difficult and tedious, because they both have an eye on each other and stand in plain sight. However, there is a very easy way to beat that challenge. There is a big building on the riverside, where disguised Aiko should hide in. Let Hayato jump into the bush by the small pool (1). When the samurais stop for a moment to talk, get Aiko ready to run out of the building and tail them (2). Follow them, but stay in the shadows. When they stop, be ready to crouch immediately and evacuate (best through the building door).

Now, head to the bathhouse. Step in when Masaru goes to get a massage. The easiest way to do that, is to swim around the entire island and get out of water next to the boat which you will need for escape. Eliminate the guard outside the walls. Next, send Hayato or Aiko as close to the samurai as possible. When he turns away, run past him on the left and jump into the bush. Now, eliminate the two enemies and the straw hat one by one. Finally, take a shot to weaken the samurai and finish him off. Remember to hide corpses. Now, sneak along the hedge until you stand next to the massagist. Turn off the light so to lure another civilian there and take them down at the same time. Now, wait for Masaru. When he sees that his favorite massagist is gone, he will send his samurais to investigate. This is a good moment to knock him out. Let Aiko drag him. This way you can easily leave the compound while moving in the bushes, without risking detection. Head to the boat and drop the body there to successfully complete the mission.

Badges and achievements

Do not go into the water. You have to use the bridge in order to get to the bathhouse. This means that you will have to get rid of a few straw hats but it will be easier with a disguise. Then you just have to sneak past samurais and use vines to climb up to the place where you want to kidnap the enemy.

Do not interfere in the bath or massage This means that you have to kidnap Masaru when he is strolling. The only problem is his escort. You have to use two pistols at the same time avoiding their sight so you can eliminate them. The best way to do this is when Masaru is going to the masseur, get him before he enters massage area.

Eliminate the masseur/heat up the water. You just have to knock-out/kill the masseur or use on of the characters to heat up the water. You don't have to kidnap Masaru when you use one of this options. After the first option Masaru will order his samurais to search his favourite masseur. The second will result in him escaping from sauna to cold spring down the island and above the lake. There, he will be guarded by a few regular enemies.
