Sea of Thieves: Sea Battles guide Sea Of Thieves guide, walkthrough
Last update: 13 July 2020
In Sea of Thieves you will take part in real sea battles. The following guide will help you not to get sank during the first encounter. Cannons installed on boards of the ship will be useful when dealing with other players, or during the attack on Skeleton Forts. Remember - always have a large supply of cannonballs and load them into cannons before setting off to just ignite the fuses if necessary.
Aiming cannons is quite difficult, because the game does not help the player with any on-screen tips. Most often you will just be shooting at the target "randomly", adjusting your aim during the process. When fighting with enemy ships, remember to aim at the hull, just below the water line - this will cause the biggest leaks on the vessel. You can also try to swim to the enemy ship or fire yourself from the cannon and perform boarding, fighting enemies on their own ship.
If you sail alone in a small sloop, you won't have a high chance to defeat a galleon. If it comes to that, you should try outmaneuvering the enemy vessel. During a direct encounter, a clever crew usually uses the anchor to perform very sharp turns to position their ship sideways to the enemy and fire all of the cannons. Remember, however, to immediately pull out the anchor once the ship stops. If you don't want to be seen by other players from considerable distances, put out the lamps placed on the side of the ship during the night.
