While traversing the corridors of the mysterious Citadel in Prince of Persia The Lost Crown, you will certainly encounter more difficult sequences that require special focus and precision. On this page we have prepared a set of useful tips that will make it easier for you to enter the world of Ubisoft's latest game. The tips collected here cover both exploration, combat, and a few less obvious mechanics.
- Grind when you run out of time crystals
- Buy maps and hints from Fariba
- Experiment with amulets
- Master climbing a vertical wall
- Don't get discouraged after losing to a boss
- Problems with platforms
- Use the chakram in unusual situations
Grind when you run out of time crystals
The vast majority of enemies in The Lost Crown respawn after activating a Wak-Wak tree. If you're collecting currency for an upgrade, a few runs through a location full of enemies will allow you to quickly get some needed crystals. Fighting near respawn points will also allow you to better master the combat system, as well as test various amulet configurations.
Buy maps and hints from Fariba
As you travel through the game world, from time to time you will encounter Fariba, a girl who knows her way around the Citadel. For a small fee, she will share her knowledge with you by revealing a fragment of the map. Between tasks, in the main game hub, you will also be able to buy hints from her, which will be especially useful when you are playing with map markers turned off.
Experiment with amulets
In the latest installment of Prince of Persia amulets are one of the basic character development mechanics. Test different amulet layouts to find the perfect setup for your playstyle. Additional options and configurations will appear over time with new improvements and additional amulet slots. It is also worth changing your current set of amulets from time to time (especially before fighting specific bosses).
Master climbing a vertical wall
To do it, you will need to acquire the dash skill (unlocked after defeating one of the first bosses). To do it, make Sargon "stick" to the selected wall, and then, while pressing the direction towards the wall, start pressing the jump and dash buttons alternately. The hero will slowly start moving upwards. In our opinion, this is one of the more useful tricks that will often help you get out of trouble or get to a hard-to-reach place.
Don't get discouraged after losing to a boss
The bosses in the latest installment of the Prince of Persia can often get under your skin. High mobility, area attacks or different phases can cause great difficulties at the first attempt. However, you should not get frustrated after a few failed attempts. Most enemies operate on quite specific patterns you can memorize, which, if learned in the right way, will allow you to defeat even the biggest adversaries.
Problems with platforms
While exploring the game world, at some point you will encounter a specific type of platforms that will activate depending on which direction the protagonist is facing. This mechanic is the basis for several interesting platform sequences, but while playing, we noticed that these platforms highlight the problem of the so-called snapback in some controllers. In such a situation, the analog stick tilted in one direction and released to the neutral position "bounces off" in the other direction, which the game may interpret as a command to turn the character around. So if your controller shows similar tendencies, a good idea might be tilting the analog stick gently in the aforementioned locations, calibrating the dead zone in the controller (if your device supports such a function) or temporarily using a keyboard (on PC).
Use the chakram in unusual situations
Shortly after starting the game, Sargon will get a chakram - a spinning weapon used to activate mechanisms. However, do not forget that this weapon is also useful during combat and will often allow you to attack your opponents from a distance (especially if you run out of arrows for your bow).
At a later stage of the game, you will also gain access to the ability to teleport to a thrown weapon. Used properly, this technique will allow you to quickly bypass frustrating platform elements or explore harder-to-reach parts of the map.
