Pokemon types | Basic Information Pokemon X/Y Guide

The Pokemon types have been with the series from the start. Most of the time is as simple as a rock-paper-scissors mechanic. However, to spice things up, the creators have added additional types. That means two things. First of all, it gives You a competitive edge over some of Your opponents ( my Gengar, a Ghost-type, was able to dish out some additional damage thanks to his Poison-type alignment). Sadly, it also goes the other way around, because it means Your Pokemon have additional vulnerability. The choice is up to You, the diversity is key. Here is a chart of all the types and their effect on other types ( the column on the left represents the attacking monster, and the one on the right, the defending one).
