Gym 1 | Walkthrough Pokemon X/Y Guide
Last update: 11 May 2016
After waking up, head towards the mirror and interact with it to get changed. Go downstairs and follow with the dialogue. Head north outside of town. In Aquacorde You will have Your first Pokemon battle. And here lies the most important choice - in the game Your start. For inexperienced players the Grass-type Chespin is recommended (he will evolve the quickest). I personally went with Fennekin, I strongly suggest You do the same (the Fairy and Ice badges, considered to be the toughest in the game, are a piece of cake with a well evolved fire starter.
After the conversation and the battles, return to Your hometown (the town where You started and talk to Your mother. Return to Aquacorde and head north through Route 2 and cross the Santalune forest to Route 3 leading up to Santalune City. On the way to the city You will encounter trainers and wild Pokemon. It is time to start thinking about the Gym Battle in Santalune. The gym leader is a Bug-type user, so if You chose Fennekin, it should not pose a problem (fire is great against bugs. If however, You chose Chespin or Froakie, You are left with several choices of Pokemon catchable along the way (and the choice is up to You because the ESSENCE of Pokemon games is customization):
-Fletchling (flying type, evolves at level 17 and gains the Fire type)
-Pikachu (electric)
-Bunnelby
Bunnelby is a normal-type, and a pretty useless creature, however, in Santalune, in a house on the east part of the town, resides a hiker who will trade you a Farfetch'd for the Bunnelby. I personally went with the third option, as that Pokemon (Farfetch'd named Quacklin' ) is a good choice against the upcoming battles (especially the Aerial Ace attack). Before entering the gym (big building with a green roof) located in the north-east part of town, heal and save. Inside the gym head south-east, along the web, to the centre where the leader reside
Viola, the gym leader has a lvl. 10 Surskit and a lvl. 12 Vivillon. If You train enough with the anyone from the suggested monsters, the battle should be easy (or if Your Fennekin is strong enough). After the battle, head north, outside of town. Talk to the first person outside of town, and You will be given the Exp. Share item. (It is CRUCIAL You equip it, as it makes raising Pokemon that much easier
