System requirements of PUBG PUBG Guide and Tips
Last update: 31 August 2020
Playerunknown's Battlegrounds didn't have the best optimization when it was available in Early Access. Because of that the game required a good hardware. However, this changed with the release of update 1.0 which lowered the game's requirements. In this chapter you can find information about the minimum and the recommended system requirements that will let you play the game comfortably. You can also learn about the hardware that was used for this guide.

Hardware that will let you get 60 fps
Requirements listed in the "Recommended requirements" should be enough for the game to run smoothly (60 fps without any drops) at 1080p - in most of the cases you will get more than 60 fps. However, they can drop a little bit during more heated firefights. You can avoid that by following the tricks described below.
Optimizing PUBG
Check out the game settings described below if you have problems with occasional fps drops or you simply want to make your game run faster:
- Screen Scale - lower this value to get more fps. The default value is 100.
- Anti-Aliasing - there isn't much point in changing something here because the fps boost is rather low while the game will look worse. Set this value to High.
- Post Processing - this option greatly affects performance. Try to change it if you need better performance - Very Low settings will give you a lot of fps.
- Shadows - this option can, just like in any other game, give you a big performance boost. Setting it to Very Low can even double your fps.
- Textures - another option that doesn't affect the overall performance that much (unless your graphics card doesn't have a lot of VRAM). There is no point in going below Medium or High.
- Effects - this is another option, after Post Processing, that affects performance greatly. Set it to Very Low if you want the game to run better.
- Foliage - this option lets you get a better performance and improve your visibility by lowering grass density. Most of the players set this value to Very Low.
- View Distance - this can put a lot of strain on your hardware. Oddly enough, it only affects the distance of textures' popping - players' characters are still clearly visible. Set this value to Very Low if you want to increase your chances in winning - thanks to that you get better performance and you will be able to see enemies easier.
Don't change the game's resolution - play with your screen's native resolution and lower the detail settings if you have to.
Our hardware
This guide was created on the following PC:
- CPU - Intel Core i5-3470
- GPU - Nvidia GeForce GTX 970
- RAM - 16GB
- VRAM - 4GB
- OS - Windows 10 Pro 64-bit
The game had no problems and it ran smoothly - fps never dropped below 60 frames. The resolution was 1080p (1920x1080) and most of the details were set to High or Ultra, excluding Foliage and View Distance (both were set to Very Low).
Recommended graphics cards for PUBG
In order to have the game run smoothly on the highest settings you may need to use different graphics cards. This depends on your screen's resolution.
- 1080p (1920x1080) - a smooth gameplay (60 fps) requires NVIDIA GTX 1060 or AMD RX 480/580.
- 2k (2560x1440) - a smooth gameplay (60 fps) requires NVIDIA GTX 1070.
- 4k (3840x2160) - a smooth gameplay (60 fps) requires NVIDIA GTX 1080 Ti.
The GPUs listed above guarantee you that the game will run smoothly on the highest settings.
