General information about weapons in PUBG PUBG Guide and Tips

Last update: 01 August 2019

Mastering the mechanics of shooting and gear selection is of paramount importance in Playerunknown's Battlegrounds - you cannot (with the exception of few luck-based situations) play and win a game without killing, at least, one opponent. The later into the game, the better the players that remain in the battlefield. As a result of that, you will often have to prove yourself as an experienced sharpshooter. In this chapter, you will find a handful of tips that will help you fire to kill, both moving and distant targets.

1. Correct weapon selection is the key - this is the most important thing in the game that you will do nothing without. Firing a shotgun at an enemy 500 meters away makes no sense - regardless of whether you have attached a x15 sight or not. Select and use appropriate weapons for different situations - shotguns, handguns and submachine guns are effective over short distance. Light machine guns, assault rifles, repeating rifles and sniper rifles are effective over medium and long distances.

2. Use melee weapons only if, you have run out of ammo (or haven't reloaded your weapon) for other weapons, or when you are sure that you will be able to hit the enemy, at least 2-4 times (depending on his armor, you require that much to kill an enemy with a melee weapon)

3. Install attachments. Optical sights, handles, larger clips and silencers affect, to a large extent, the behavior of your weapons and their effectiveness. Appropriate selection of these will considerably increase the effectiveness of any weapon.

4. Select the correct sight for your weapon. There is little point in attaching a x15 scope to a shotgun, when you can install it on an assault rifle or a sniper rifle. It also pays off to match optical sights with specific situations - x8 or x15 are always better, but they are completely useless among buildings or indoors.

5. If possible, carry 2-3 types of optical sights for weapons you use. It may be invaluable to be able to replace a x8 sight with a reflection sight on an assault rifle, when you enter an urban area, or indoors, after fighting in the open terrain.

6. If you fire at an enemy over a long distance, you have to adjust the scope. All depends on elevation, both yours and the enemy's, as well as from the weapon itself. The higher the Muzzle Velocity, the earlier the bullet will reach the opponent. Using medium and long-distance weapons (assault rifles and sniper rifles), align the crosshair with the opponent within the distance of 100-200 meters. Aim higher as the distance increases (300-600 meters).

7. If the enemy is in motion (to the left or right, in relation to your position), you will have to follow his position and fire the bullet in front of him, to compensate for the speed. If the distance exceeds 50 meters, you can fire straight into the opponent, but you will have to aim slightly in front of him, as the distance increases.

8. Skills described in 6 and 7 simply have to be learned. All depends on the positions of both players, the weapon you use and the connection condition - with greater lags, hitting a distant, moving point becomes nearly impossible.

9. remember that firing at different body parts deals different damage. A fire into the chest deals, by default, 100% damage, firi8ng into the head deals double damage of 200% and a bullet to the legs deals only a half of that (50%).

10. Remember that the opponent's armor also affects damage hw takes. The successive tiers of vests and helmets absorb damage to the chest and to the head by 30, 40 and 55%. Helmets of tiers 1 and 2 do not protect the face - if you manage to score a hit into the face, and the opponent does not have a tier 3 helmet, he will die from a single shot.

11. Remember to keep your weapons reloaded at all times. There is nothing worse than running into an enemy, when there are only 2 rounds left in your clip. Reload your weapon every time you have time to catch some breath and nobody's shooting at you.

12. Always match the weapon with the situation. There is no point in running around with a sniper rifle indoors, or with a shotgun while out in the open field. While entering a building, always switch to the weapon that is good for short distance - time spent on switching weapons may cost you life.

13. Use appropriate mode of fire. The majority of weapons have single and auto modes, and some can also fire bursts of three rounds. Each one of them is suitable for a different situation - sinle mode is good for long-range, bursts over medium and auto mode is perfect for narrow spaces and over distance of up to 50 meters.

14. Use covers. Standing out in the open, while shooting, is not a good idea - you will be exposed to fire from all sides. It is best to hide behind an elevation, a building or a rock. If there is a better cover around, try not to use trees - unless you are sure that the enemy/enemies will attack only from one side. While behind trees, you are only covered from one side and you can still take damage from the sides and from the back.

15. Think twice before you take a shot. It is sometimes better to simply let go, instead of attracting attention. If you are sure that you will kill the opponent before he reaches a cover, do that. If, on the other hand, the enemy is behind a good cover, or you will lose visuals of him in several seconds, reconsider whether it is a good idea to make the hustle - especially if your cover is not too good.
