Husbandry Oxygen Not Included Guide

To begin an animal husbandry, we're going to need a duplicant who at least has first level in Ranching. This will enable us to catch the chosen animal and take care of it later. Start with creating a separate room which will serve as a home for the animals. It is best to prepare a room that has 16 fields - such size will be enough to look after almost any type of animal. The room should encompass from 12 to 96 fields and should contain a Critter Feeder, or a Fish Feeder. After building one or both of these devices, we can begin the husbandry.

In case of Hatches and Puffs, we don't need any of these devices - these animals feed themselves without our help. It is best to avoid catching them completely, as holding these animals may cause them to stop generating resources.

Handling caught animals, including gathering their products, requires a Grooming Station and a Critter Feeder - such set is enough to create a very prosperous farm, in case you have more animals, build a few of these buildings. The animals will breed in their own time; each egg will hatch either a wild or a tamed animal (this happens randomly) which will be held in our locked "barn".

The amount of eggs that will be eaten only depends on the size of our pantry and ration box. If we want the egg to hatch a small monster, we need to leave them on the ground, or place them in an incubator. Time it takes to hatch an egg is 20 cycles; the incubator lowers this time to 4 cycles.
