The Fort Condor minigame returns in the Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth remake to test your tactical mettle. You have to deploy units of 3 different types in a chosen formation and let them fight to defeat the boss on the opposing side, but you can’t give them any commands or take direct control of them. The rock-paper-scissors mechanic that makes some troops more effective against others, and the requirements you have to fullfill before summoning your Hero add to the challenge. Here is what you can do to beat the 4th stage of the minigame.

FF7 Rebirth – How to Beat Fort Condor 4

Just like in the previous stages, in order to win this part of the minigame you need to defeat the enemy boss. However, it’s easier said than done. Always keep in mind which classes of units are effective against others. Without applying the rock-paper-scissors principle, it will be difficult to counter the enemy. The strengths and weaknesses of your troops are:

  1. Vanguard (Red) units are strong against Ranged (Green) minions and weak against Defense (Blue) enemies,
  2. Ranged (Green) troops are effective against Defenders (Blue) and struggle against Vanguards (Red),
  3. Defense (Blue) soldiers will effectively stop Vanguards (Red) in their stride, but fall against Ranged (Green) troops.

The color of the minions you summon is also important because you need enough allies of a given type to call upon the powerful Hero units, which will decide the tide of the battle. You can only pick 2 out of 3 Heroes per stage. They are:

  1. Tifa (Vanguard),
  2. Barret (Ranged),
  3. Cloud (Defense).

Once you’ve beaten all of the challenges in Fort Condor, you will unlock Hard Mode. It might be daunting, but our guide will help you to beat it.

Your available ally units will depend on the formation you pick. In the Stronghold Defense Formation, recommended for the 4th stage of Fort Condor, you get unlimited trebuchets and ballistae (neutral units) as well as Enforcers.

Despite what the name of the Stronghold Defense Formation suggests, you can use it to play inside of the enemy’s lines. The strategy below simply focuses on killing the boss as quickly as possible.

  1. Pick Cloud and Tifa as your Hero units (Cloud is the most important, as this solution uses blue mobs almost exclusively).
  2. Start by deploying an Elite Enforcer on the right lane at the entrance to the opponent’s side, and an Elite Vanguard on the left lane.
  3. In the middle of the battlefield (in front of your barricades), deploy a ballista directly facing the main boss. Once an enemy appears to destroy the structure, summon an Elite Enforcer to defend it and a Cleric to heal your units.
  4. Add multiple Trebuchets (at least 4) close together (near the ballista) in one line to aim at the boss and another Cleric to keep them operational.
  5. Summon another Elite Enforcer to hold the left side. The enemies on the right should have focused on the Trebuchets.
  6. Once you have enough blue troops on the field, summon Cloud as close to the Boss as you can. He will pull the attention of the mobs. Add a Cleric to heal Cloud.
  7. Even if Cloud falls, the Trebuchets should soon down the boss with time to spare.

If you’re worried about the enemies defeating you before you defeat them, or want to mix up red and blue units, feel free to experiment with this formula by moving your line back and deploying more Vanguards.
