How to unlock PRO modifications | Mods (car parts) NfS: Most Wanted Guide
Last update: 11 May 2016
As can be concluded from the above chart, PRO modifications are simply improved versions of standard modifications. In most cases, they are devoid of their weak points, or reduce them considerably. You need to meet certain requirements to unlock them, which are contained in the description of a given part. Some PRO modifications can be unlocked unintentionally, without applying attention to it, or accidentally. Still, I have some tips on how to do it the quickest way possible. Some of the descriptions are pretty vague so, I'll try to explain things.
To save energy and time, you can combine achievements to get, and obtain them without the necessity to ram around the entire city. A good example here is unlocking the PRO versions of track tires and powershot nitrous. The only thing you need to do is find a sufficiently big parking lot, apply both modifications and start drifting in circles. Drifting itself, not only unlocks the Pro version for the tires, but also is one of the methods to replenish nitrous. Thanks to this, by drifting, you can also obtain the PRO version for powershot nitrous.
In a similar way, you can unlock the PRO version for off-road tires and for powershot nitrous. Why this combination? Every time you use powershot nitrous, it slightly increases the diameter of the drift circle, and every bump causes the car to lose contact with the ground. Burning nitrous, on the other hand, causes the diameter of the drift circle to decrease, which makes it a better choice for off-road drives.
When you avoid 2 crashes (which are described in the game as avoiding an accident) to obtain reinforced chassis, is, arguably, the most difficult thing to do and, additionally, the least comprehensible. It would seem that avoiding crashes consists in e.g. swerving on order to avoid a head-on collision with an object or a car, is enough. It, unfortunately, is not. This kind of maneuver is interpreted by the game, merely, as "collision avoidance". The only situation in which the game detects avoiding a crash, is when you pass by an opponent's car, or a police car that crashed during the race, by a thread. In order to increase your chances to succeed, you need to enter a race against computer, controlled opponents, ant stick behind them closely, and keep your fingers crossed in hope that any of them crashes against an object . Then, pass right by the car on order to succeed. As you can see, you need to rely mostly on your good luck at this task. The easiest way to pull it off, is when the police join in. This increases chances for a cars, especially in the vicinity of road blocks.
For those of you, who are not well versed in the topic, the term "slipstreaming" may also be incomprehensible. Fortunately, in this case, the point is only to follow other cars very closely. This cannot be just any car. To complete this task, you need to tail a computer opponent, or a police car.
The remaining tasks, like going the wrong way or spending 60s airborne, do not need explanation, I think. Progress for each task is included in the description of a modification.
