Mission 4: Die Hard Attack - p. 1 MoW: Vietnam Guide

New objective: Find and eliminate the Vietnamese sniper.

You start in [1]. You must be very cautious, as in the part of the jungle where you've started the game there's an enemy sniper who poses a great threat. He is sitting on the tree in [2] and his first friend is standing next to him. The second is in [3]. Select one of your men and run to the edge of the map in [4] and then to [5]. Get down and start crawling through [6] and [7]. Change the firing mode to "Hold fire" and save your game often. Keep crawling towards [2] while remaining in the bushes. Your man should detect the enemy sniper, but if the enemies standing on the ground had spotted him, you'll need to load a saved game. Detect the enemy sniper, but do not engage in combat.

Now, send your sniper on the same way, first to [4] and then to [5]. Shoot the tree the enemy sniper is sitting on. You'll miss him but that's not the point. The shot will alarm the remaining enemy soldiers, thus they'll get revealed (you'll see them on your map). Order your sniper to crawl through [6] and [7] and keep checking if you can aim at the enemy sniper. Hide if you see a red crosshair on your sniper. It means the enemy sniper is aiming at you. Stay in the bushes. You'll finally reach a position from which you'll be able to kill the enemy sniper (the color of dot will change to orange). Taking the enemy sniper down won't be a problem. The problem will be his comrades. They'll open fire immediately, and probably you won't be able to hide. So slow down the game, kill the enemy sniper and then select your other soldier. Order him to kill the second enemy straight away. Remember to stay behind some cover and after you've killed those two enemies, run away. Otherwise, the opponent in [3] will kill your men. Back off, and then kill him with the sniper from the other side. You will receive a new mission objective and the map will enlarge.

New objective: Destroy the pillboxes on the hill.

In the next part of the mission you'll be using the sniper (Sonny Armstrong) and the soldier with a silenced rifle (John Merrill). Place the first in [8]. He should be able to take out two enemies in [9]. First, shoot the one who's further, otherwise he'll lie down and you won't be able to reach him anymore. Then kill the one who's nearer. Don't place your sniper too close because it will alert the guards and they will start looking for you.

Then, select John Merrill. Your next targets are three soldiers in [10]. Two of them operate a mortar. Look for the path near the mortar. A solitary guard is patrolling here. Wait until he goes away, and then crawl to the back of the crew in [10]. Kill the one who isn't operating the mortar first, and then get rid of his two friends. Remember not to allow the first one for even one shot. It might kill your soldier or alarm the guards nearby.

Before the patrolling guard comes back, quickly crawl to [11] and hide. Wait for him and when he comes to [12] kill him with one shot. If all goes well, you'll get rid of him without making any noise and his colleagues won't notice anything. Select the sniper and go to [13].

Look for a fallen log near the edge of the map in [13] and hide behind it (look at the picture below). It's a perfect cover that will allow you to eliminate your next enemies. Before you do that however, take a look at the vicinity of [14]. A solitary guard is patrolling this place. If you shoot, he will stop so it's important to stop him at a position that will allow you to kill him easily. When you see him coming to [15], slow down the game and select your sniper. Quickly kill the enemy soldier near the tree in [16] and then an opponent who is hiding in the bunker in [17].

Try to place the sniper in such a location that will point him directly towards the entrance of the bunker in [17]. This way, you'll be able to kill two enemy soldiers inside (look at the image below). Well, you will need to work with the camera a little but it is not going to be very difficult. Aim at the opponents' legs or hips. Soon, the first of five bunkers will be clear.

Select John Merrill and go to [18] and then crawl to [17]. Remember to stay in the bushes or in the shadows. You need to eliminate two soldiers surrounded by bushes in [19]. Find them and sneak from the direction at which they aren't looking at. Kill them both with your knife. Select the sniper and while staying in the current location, kill a soldier who is standing near the boulder. Next, send your sniper to [20].

From here shoot the solitary guard in [14] and then quickly eliminate the next two who operate the mortar. The hardest part of the mission is over. Now, you'll start moving your sniper into subsequent positions in order to kill the following enemies: a guard in [16] (the one who was patrolling previously), a hidden soldier in [21], another one next to an overturned tree in [22], and then two who are leaning out of the bunkers in [23] and [24] every now and then (look at the picture below). Throw a grenade into each bunker. After you've cleared them both, there'll be two more bunkers remaining.

The next part of the mission will be very easy. Select two of your men who have both been on their own so far. Send them to pick up one of the mortars in [14] or [10]. Move it behind the bunker in [17] so that it will cover you. Start bombing the enemies with the mortar. First kill the soldiers who operate two mortars in [25] but don't forget to kill individual soldiers here and there. Use your map to locate enemies, and you can use all the ammunition this mortar has.

After the bombing the only survivors should be: two soldiers in each of the bunkers in [26] and [27], and the two who were out of range of mortar - the first in [28] and the second in [29]. Your sniper can easily take them both out. After that you need to clear the bunkers. First, kill the enemies who are leaning out of the bunkers and then throw a grenade inside. If anybody had been lucky enough to survive, have the sniper finish them off. Warning! Before you throw a grenade into the last bunker, save your game and prepare for the next mission objectives. Gather all your men between the bunkers and take three mortars that are fully loaded, and then go to [30] and using one of your men kill the last soldier. You'll receive new mission objectives and the map will enlarge.
