Destroy Tanks on Railcars - part 1 | Operation Varsity MoH: Airborne Guide
Last update: 11 May 2016
I'm sure that you'll have some serious problems finishing this task, especially if you tried more direct assaults in the previous missions of the game. I guess that you won't be surprised by the fact that reaching all three tanks is going to be the least of your problems. Your main concern for this entire mission are enemy snipers. You will have to eliminate all of them in a correct order. Doing this will make your life a lot easier, so you'll be able to take on other important objectives. Also, even if you make a mistake at the start of this mission, you will be able to repeat it from the start, without having to lose too much of your precious time.
Approach:
You could try and land in a safe spot (green zones are your only choice here), however I think that you should be able to score a Skill Drop AND take out most of the enemy snipers without having to return to the plane. Your landing zone is a very small balcony. I'm sure that you won't have any problems finding it. It's located near all three tanks. Your first concern will be to advance towards the ground. Otherwise the snipers would have attacked you. Also, try scoring at least a flared landing, so you'll be able to use your gun without having to wait too long.
Reaching your target:
Once you've safely landed, IMMEDIATELY choose a crouching stance. You will have to use your default weapon (it should be a machine gun) to kill enemy soldiers. They will appear in front of you. Do this quickly, before they manage to start firing at you. Try and preserve as many health points as possible (at least three). Now you will have to find a good spot to hide from the other sniper. We're going to kill them one by one. Get ready!
The first sniper will be standing inside one of the carriages. He's to the south from your current position. Take a look at the screen if you want to know where to find him. Be careful! A second sniper may also be hiding there, so you should take your time and wait for him to expose his position. Make sure that you're leaning only for a second or two, so you won't suffer any injuries. Otherwise you would probably lose an entire health slot (or more) from a single shot.
The second sniper is standing on top of one of the northern buildings. Just as before, you will have to lean out quickly in order to take a shot. You can't move to your right, because you would have exposed yourself to another sniper. As for this one, aim for his head.
Now you will have to turn left. There are two sniper units there. German soldiers are once again hiding inside one of the carriages. It's to the north-west from your current position. You must be extremely careful here. Lean out for a very short period of time, so the enemy snipers won't be able to kill you. Otherwise you would have lost a large number of health points.
The last sniper is located to the south-east. This is going to be one of the lower carriages. Don't worry if you don't see him at first glance, because he'll be hiding inside the carriage and he'll only expose himself for a short period of time. Once he does that, take your chances. Obviously you will have to shoot him in the head or in the chest.
