Ashley Williams - preliminary requirements and key aspects of this romance
- For obvious reasons, you can have an affair with Ashley only if she didn't die in the first part of the series. (this may have occurred during the mission which takes places on Virmire.)
- It doesn't matter if you were having an affair with Ashley in the first part of the series - you'll be able to have a crush on her during the new campaign. The same goes for romancing other characters in Mass Effect 2, although in this case you have to count on a more or less favorable opinion from Ashley about Shepard's recent relationships.
How to establish and develop a romance
You'll meet Ashley again during the prologue, but you will travel on your first joint mission after reaching the facility located on Mars - this is the main quest called Priority: Mars. Only then it is worth establishing and start building a new relationship, by cutting off from any ties with Cerberus in a non-aggressive way. Ashley is seriously injured at the end of the mission that occurs on Mars and she will be transported to The Citadel clinic.. Immediately pay her a visit (screenshot above) and buy her a gift at the local Sirta store.
Once again, it would be good to visit Ashley after completing the main task in Palavena, wishing her a fast recovery and commenting positively on the news that she had received an offer to become a Spectre.
Then wait for the moment of receiving a message from Ashley titled Spectre Status confirmed, while seeing her in the clinic for the last time. After that you can pre-invite Ashley to Normandy. It is worth adding that during one of the visits to the clinic, she can raise the topic of Shepard's former relationships, although even if he was having an affair in the second part of the series with a person Ashley does not like (mainly Jack and Miranda), this will not ruin the chances of starting/resuming a relationship with her.
The next meeting with Ashley will occur only at the end of the main task related to repelling Cerberus's assault on the Citadel. The important moment is the confrontation with Udina and Ashley.
You have to be careful not to shoot Ashley or turn her against you while trying to convince her of his innocence. When you try to return to Normandy, you will run into Ashley again (screenshot above) and the key to further development of events is to officially invite her to the team, because in the later part of the game it would be impossible.
Since Ashley joined the Normandy crew (and Shepard's crew) you can establish/resume a positive relationship with her for good.
The most important point in this process is to respond to Ashley's message titled Memorial Wall in the course of which she will ask Shepard to appear at the memorial wall in the Docks Holding Area to collectively pay respects to the suffering of her sister Sarah. Finale of romance with Ashley Williams
The final stage of building a relationship with Ashley should occur during one of the subsequent visits to the Citadel (in the meantime, you can also witness a scene in Normandy in which you will come across drunk Ashley).
Find Ashley, that is, at the Apollo cafe in the Presidium area and confirm (during the conversation) the desire to enter into a more serious relationship what should be rewarded with a kiss.
You can count on spending the night with Ashley shortly before you take part in the mission to attack the Cerberus headquarters, and the last conversation with her will occur during the final stage in London.
