Game modes
In Gwent, the player can participate in several kinds of matches - starting from an ordinary game against a virtual opponent, through casual duel with a random player or a friend, and ending with serious ranked play that requires us to show true skill.
Casual Match
A classical duel against a real opponent. Having chosen a deck, the game will find an opponent with a similar experience level for you. This mode is the basic form of account development because you won't be able to play ranked matches before reaching level 10.
Ranked Match
Having reached the 10th account level, you will be able to take part in Ranked Matches. When you use this mode for the first time, the game calculates your experience level on the basis of the Casual Matches you've played and will assign an adequate rank to you. You will receive additional rewards for this action. From now on, every match played in this mode, apart from experience points and bonus rewards, will also be rewarded with ranked points that you have to collect to climb up the ranked leaderboards. Bear in mind that Ranked Matches are no joke and every loss will cost you ranked points. It must be stressed that although you can lose points, you never lose the rank you've reached. What's more, every obtained rank gives the player Scraps, Meteorite Powder, and Card Kegs.
Friend Match
In this mode, you can invite your friend to play Gwent. Only the people visible in the game's main menu can receive an invitation. You receive no additional awards like in the case of a Casual Match and Ranked Match.
Challenges
In this mode, the player can play the tutorial, which explains the gameplay basics very well. Moreover, it offers many challenges connected to every available Faction. Rewards for completing them are worth the effort - apart from a considerable amount of Ore and Scraps, you can gain two extra Leaders for each Faction. Every beginner should play the tutorial first.
Practice Match
This mode lets you play against a virtual opponent. Practice Match is a great way to increase your skill or try your deck. It is especially recommended for the players who have just begun their adventure with Gwent and are not too familiar with its rules.
