YIIK: A Post-Modern RPG is a surrealistic jRPG set in the 1990’s. It was developed by the independent developer Ackk Studios, creators of games like Chromosphere: The Two Brothers and Two Brothers. The story focuses on the mysterious disappearance of Sammy Pak who was taken by supernatural forces while using an elevator. Her friends decide to embark on a dangerous journey to save her. The single player campaign will give us around twenty five hours of gameplay. Our party of eight moves around an isometric-presented map, every once in a while taking part in turn-based battles against our enemies. The game uses Unity Engine. Visuals in YIIK: A Post-Modern RPG are much different from what we can see in other jRPGs as the game lacks any sort of manga-inspired style. All of the game's dialogues are voice acted.

An independent cRPG featuring a turn-based combat system and easily distinguished by its colorful visuals and a fairytale atmosphere. The game was released in three episodes. The player is taken to a fantasy world - the planet Umbra, where a catastrophe occurred in the wake of which the planet ceased to spin. Thus one part of the globe is being constantly scorched by sunlight, while the other remains frozen. The player assumes the role of a young treasure hunter who gathers their team during his journeys and tries to solve the mystery behind the cataclysm. The other playable character here is a young scout - the player can switch between the two characters freely. Traveling across Umbra takes place on the world map; when the player encounters enemies, a separate tactical map is loaded. Making a good use of the characters' abilities is the key to success in turn-based fights. What's more, the player manages their base - where they can develop the characters, both refill and upgrade their equipment, as well as cultivate a magical garden.

Dragon Fantasy: The Volumes of Westeria
RPG
July 23, 2015
A collection of two remastered old-school role-playing games: Dragon Fantasy Book I and Book II. The titles included in the Dragon Fantasy: The Volumes of Westeria edition take the player to the eponymous Westeria continent, where evil spreads its influence and two nations are warring for domination. The story is split into chapters, each featuring a different protagonist – actions of these heroes have significant impact on this world’s situation. The Dragon Fantasy series combines solutions typical of the classic representatives of the jRPG genre, such as Final Fantasy or Dragon Quest, with a daring sense of humor characteristic of EarthBound. Apart from many adventures, conversations with non-player characters, and battles fought with randomly spawned opponents, the game could not miss out on a character progression system. Along with the story progression your heroes are gaining progressively better weapons and armor, as well as and more powerful spells. When it comes to audiovisuals, the games in the Dragon Fantasy series offer old-school graphics and retro sounds, resembling 8- and 16-bit titles.

A game developed by American studio Disastercake. The title was inspired by classic jRPG games released on the first generation of PlayStation consoles. Soul Saga takes place in a fantasy realm called Oterra which was devastated by a powerful cataclysm and then gradually conquered by hostile monsters known as Inkheart. Thirty years earlier the forces of evil were stopped by the grand alchemist who created a magic barrier impenetrable for the monsters. When the spell is starting to weaken, the player assumes the role of a young adventurer named Mithos who, together with a group of companions, is trying to find a way to save the civilization. Gameplay mechanics of Soul Saga are strongly inspired by such series like Final Fantasy, Breath of Fire, Suikoden and Persona.
