Clair Obscur: Expedition 33

Clair Obscur: Expedition 33 is a third-person jRPG with a turn-based combat system. The game is inspired by belle epoque, a French artistic period from the turn of the 19th and 20th centuries. This is the debut project of the Sandfall Interactive studio, published by Kepler Interactive, whose portfolio includes Pacific Drive.

Plot

In Clair Obscur: Expedition 33 we find ourselves in a fantasy realm full of surreal enemies. The land is watched over by a deadly deity called the Paintress, who wakes up once a year and paints a number on her Monolith. Everyone who is at this age turns into dust and dies.

The game's plot focuses on an expedition whose goal is to defeat the Paintress and stop the cycle before it consumes the generation of 33-year-olds. The expedition includes engineer Gustav, traveler Maelle, sorceress Lune, and warrior Sciel, and during the journey, other companions and friendly legendary creatures join them.

Gameplay

During the game we form and advance a team of six characters, improving their statistics, skills and equipment. Depending on the style of play, we can create unique configurations, as each hero specializes in a different way of fighting.

Exploring diverse locations, we discover secrets of the virtual world, visiting mysterious places and completing hidden tasks.

Real-time arcade elements are incorporated into the turn-based combat. The battles involve creating defensive combinations, consisting of dodges and parries, as well as launching counters and series of attacks, during which we have to manually aim at the enemies' weak spots.

Engine

The game is powered by Unreal Engine 5 technology.
