Elite Video Game Series
A series of space simulators with a strongly developed economic aspect. The series is developed by the Frontier Developments development studio.
The fathers of the series are David Braben and Ian Bell, the developers of Elite released in 1984 in versions for BBC Micro and Acron Electron computers. Containing many innovative solutions, the game won the hearts of players, and even gained a "cult" status in the UK (the version for BBC Micro computers alone reached sales of 150,000 copies). With time, the game has received ports for other platforms, including a reprogrammed edition by Chris Sawyer - Elite Plus for PC running on the DOS operating system. For the full-fledged sequel - Frontier: Elite II - fans had to wait until 1993. Unfortunately, despite good sales, the game turned out to be quite a disappointment for fans. Braben and company managed to salvage the damaged reputation with the third installment of the series, Frontier: First Encounter, released three years later. Despite several attempts, the realization of further projects in the series proved impossible for a long time. Thanks to the Kickstarter campaign in 2012 (nearly 1.6 million pounds), the developers got enough money to start working on Elite: Dangerous.
The plot of the Elite series is usually of secondary importance (the original Elite had no story, so players' imagination was sparked by the included copy of the science-fiction novel The Dark Wheel by Robert Holdstock). The action takes place in the distant future. The player takes on the role of a pilot of a small spaceship and with a small amount of money at the start tries to gain wealth and fame.
The gameplay focuses on two elements. The first is trading various products, which represent a different value in different corners of the galaxy. Funds gained in this way allow you to expand your spaceship or buy new units. The player, while piloting their ship, can participate in space battles.
From the very beginning, the Elite series has been distinguished by innovation. It is worth noting that the first game was also one of the first games to offer 3D vector graphics.

A special edition of Elite: Dangerous - a game which casts the player in the role of a pilot aboard a spaceship, who traverses distant regions of the galaxy, completing various assignments, fighting enemies or getting rich through trading. The game came out in the form of a Blu-ray disc. Apart from the base version of the game - created by Frontier Developments, a team led by the legendary Chris Sawyer, who had produced all the previous installments - this Legendary Edition includes all the gameplay improvements introduced since the original release, and the Horizons expansion pack. The latter introduced an opportunity to land on the planets without atmosphere, in order to explore the surfaces using an on-board rover. Moreover, Horizons enriches the game with a character creation system and gives an opportunity to invite others to explore space together, aboard one starship.

A space combat sim focused on online PvP, which is actually a standalone version of the multiplayer mode taken from Elite: Dangerous, a game by Frontier Developments. This title allows up to 8 people to play together in such game modes as Free-for-All, Team Deathmatch, or Capture the Flag. The players have four types of ships at their disposal: Federal and Imperial Fighters, which offer high speed and maneuverability at the expense of weak armor and weapons, the powerful but fragile Eagle, and the slow and heavy – but also tough – Sidewinder. You can play on four diverse maps, including ice-bound asteroid belt, space station with a maze of corridors, mining facility, and arena with a space elevator in the center. In terms of gameplay and visuals Elite: Dangerous – Arena does not stray far from the 2014's original.

The fourth installment in the Elite series. The game is a space simulator created again by David Braben and the Frontier studio. Elite: Dangerous is set in the far future; after humanity had colonized countless star systems, the Universe is dominated by three superpowers: the Empire, the Federation, and the Alliance. Brave pilots seek easy money working beyond the territories controlled by these entities. The open-world game structure offers the players large amounts of freedom when it comes to exploration, trading or completing military assignments. Instead of the classic division into the solo and multiplayer modes, the creators of Elite: Dangerous allow the player to join their friends or return to single-player experience at any time.
