Elite Dangerous: Arena is a space sim focused on online dog-fighting. This is actually the PvP mode from Elite: Dangerous released for PC as a standalone game. Both titles were created by Frontier Development and are compatible with each other so to allow shared gameplay on common servers.
Gameplay
Elite Dangerous: Arena for PC offers only multiplayer gameplay that focuses on fast-paced small-scope space battles. This is not a massive online universe – you can only test your skill in dogfighting against other players.
There are four ships to pick from. Federal and Imperial Fighters offer high speed and maneuverability, but at a cost of weak armor and weapons. On the other hand, Eagle focuses on its offensive potential, whereas Sidewinder is a slow and heavy vessel, but one that is hard to crack. Succeeding in combat lets you advance to new levels and unlock better and better gear for your ships.
All these ships can be taken for a spin on four maps, including ice-bound asteroid belt, space station with a maze of corridors, mining facility, and arena with a space elevator in the center. The game allows for shared play for up to eight players and offers three play modes – Free for All, Team Deathmatch, and Capture the Flag.
