Elite: Dangerous - Odyssey Description
Elite: Dangerous - Odyssey is another add-on to the Elite: Dangerous space simulator, which has been continuously developed since its official PC debut in 2014. Frontier Developments studio is responsible for the production of the game, the creation of which was financed through a funding at Kickstarter. Odyssey is the most ambitious expansion in the history of game, introducing many options and functionalities expected by fans and announced by developers many years before its launch.
Mechanics
Elite: Dangerous - Odyssey is an extremely important step in the evolution of the game and brings it closer to the shape that the creators imagined at the beginning of the production process in 2012, when they drew up plans for its possible future. In the Odyssey, players leave the cockpit of their spaceship for the first time and from the first person's perspective can freely explore the surface of many explored planets.
However, it ends on regular walks. The developers offer a variety of missions that take full advantage of the new game functionality. We talk to a number of NPCs and travel through various locations. For the players, diplomatic and commercial tasks await, as well as scenarios requiring the ability to sneak in and fight directly using the rich arsenal and equipment. Battles do not deviate from what other popular first person shooters are used to.
All this, of course, takes place in a fully open world, which is also inhabited by other participants of the game. Thanks to the designated hubs/meeting places we can join forces with them, creating groups where we perform contracts and tasks together and even create alliances with other clans.
Technical aspects
Elite: Dangerous - Odyssey drastically change the look and functionality of the game. The developers have rebuilt the game engine, introducing previously absent gameplay mechanics and technology to play in FPS mode. Also noteworthy are many visual innovations, such as additional ship models, animations, as well as buildings and structures that we visit during trips on foreign planets.
