Frontier Developments - the devs of the space simulator Elite: Dangerous - announced that the latest expansion for the game, titled Elite: Dangerous - Odyssey, will be released on PC on May 19, this year. The news was delivered in a short teaser, available below.
The discussed DLC is available for pre-order on Steam, Epic Games Store and the developer's store. The Odyssey expansion is currently in the alpha testing phase, which will last until April 30.
Odyssey is a large expansion, which will introduce the ability to leave the spaceship and explore the surface of planets on foot. There will also be new missions and scenarios that will use the feature - we will be sneaking and fighting like in a traditional first-person shooter.
The game will also include a new discipline - botany (we will collect DNA samples of plants and sell the data obtained through their analysis) and a lot of new equipment (including a Supratech Artemis suit used during the missions related to exobiology and a very durable Manticore Dominator armor).
Elite: Dangerous is available on PC, PlayStation 4 and Xbox One. Console versions of the game are to receive the Odyssey expansion this fall.
