Mirthwood Description
Mirthwood is a combination of an RPG and a life simulator with survival elements. It was developed by Bad Ridge Games and published by V Publishing.
Plot
Mirthwood is set in a medieval-inspired fantasy world. We play as a refugee from a continent engulfed in war, having arrived in an unknown land to start their life anew. How said life goes depends entirely on our actions and choices.
Mechanics
Mirthwood makes use of the top-down perspective. The game is set in an open world composed of six diverse regions and three large cities. While traversing it we'll get to know its inhabitants, complete various quests and take part in random events.
The game lets us choose what sort of virtual life we'll lead. We can run our own farm, gather resources, build a house, cultivate our land and raise animals. We can also become craftsmen, creating and selling various items for a profit. If we so wish, we can also take up adventuring and face the dangers lurking in the wild. We can battle enemies, such as bandits, aggressive animals and monsters (such as werewolves), wielding a sword and a bow. Acquiring new equipment and developing our character makes us stronger, letting us face gradually greater challenges.
The depth does not end there, as we can also establish relationships with other characters, each of whom has their own life to live. The interaction system was inspired by The Sims and lets us make friends (or lovers) and enemies. The game also features survival elements; thunderstorms, winter cold and diseases can all put a wrench in our plans if we don't prepare for them beforehand.
Technical aspects
Mirthwood makes use of a colorful, cartoonish artstyle.
