Necesse Description
Necesse is an open-world action adventure game with an extensive crafting system. It was developed by an indie developer Mads Skovgaard and published by Hooded Horse.
Plot
The plot of Necesse doesn't matter much. The game is set in a fantasy land, tasking us with creating a life for ourselves. It's up to us how it will look like.
Mechanics
Necesse makes use of the top-down perspective. The world is procedurally generated, which, combined with the game's open-ended nature, makes each playthrough different than the last. If we so desire, we can become an adventurer and set out on a long journey. We'll meet many different people, complete quests, face pirate kings, mighty dragons and fallen wizards, traversing dark dungeons and seeking treasure. We can also create a prosperous settlement and recruit many residents, each of whom has different abilities.
Regardless of the path we choose, resource gathering plays a major role. Resources are used to create buildings, decor, equipment, weapons and armor. Weapons come in handy both while adventuring and while defending our settlement from invasions by other players (though these can be disabled). While wandering the world, we'll face many different enemies and monsters. Combat is fast-paced, letting us wield melee weapons, ranged weapons and powerful magic.
Game modes
Necesse supports solo play, but only reaches its full potential in multiplayer. We can co-operate with others or compete for resources and land. Players can also set up their own servers and adjust the gameplay to their own preferences. They can choose the number of players (ranging from one to a few hundreds), the difficulty, and such aspects as the length of an in-game day.
Technical aspects
Necesse features simple, 2D pixel art visuals.
